Astro Jet (Hillar)

I have received, a number of PM's, wanting to make sure, the cost of Hillars flowers were covered..
I am very pleased to report, that all those, who responded, have send funds and notes, regarding each share..
I have my funds covered, and an extra $159.00 (could go to 207.00)
My first thought, was to get a new car cover!, but I knew Hillar, would want me to send the funds to the site....
There are lots of places to send funds in his name, but He was a founder, and would want to see site costs covered...
I wish I could tell him, of all the love, that was shown by his friends (those he met, and those he did not)....
If any other members, want to help, please buy a window decal, and keep it on / in your car as a show of support  427Carl

well if we get enough donations, Carl could get all sorts of related stuff embroidered on it ! and he could put it on the car at car shows ! can't tell me people wouldn't come to look at a car with a cover on it at a show then take in all the Canadian Poncho advertising in the name of Hillar !

More than 10 years ago I lost a very dear friend. We shared similar car interests, not just Pontiacs. He was partly to blame for my love of 94-96 Impalas too! He and his wife had beautiful Impala SS jackets, each one having with their name on the front.

A couple of years after his passing, his wife showed up with his SS jacket and said she wanted me to have it. I could hardly stand to see her part with it and said I couldn't take it. When she insisted I saw how much it would mean to her if I took it, so I accepted. She said I could just get his name removed off it. I knew I could NEVER do that. I agonized how to handle it and a few weeks later, one night as I was lying awake in bed, it hit me!

$15 later I had found a way to remember and honour my friend. I am thrilled that so often when I wear the jacket, people ask me why it says what it says on there. I am able to share with them and thus keep his memory fresh.

Beautiful work, I think.

This is how it looked when I got it. Don't wonder about the black notebook, it will explain itself in the next pic.

I can't think of a better way to pay tribute and keep a memory alive. This friend was not a "museum" kind of guy, but a "use it if you have it" guy, which he so heartily did with his cars as well. I wear the jacket a bit sparingly because I want to have it a long time, but I make sure it's not just gathering dust in a closet, forgotten.

Let's somehow do the same for Hillar.

I have a friend in that sort of business , those melton leather bombers sell for about $140 embroidered like that. It is doable.

I love the jacket, but it's not even so much the jacket as the way it keeps the memory alive. It would do the same for me if it was a 20 dollar windbreaker that I did the same treatment on. I find I am very guilty of forgetting way too easy.

Carl,
Your reward for looking after the flowers should be the car cover. Keep the funds.

Way to go Carl. I know Todd never asks for donations and the sale of Canadian Poncho items still hasn't generated any profit for him so that is a great way to help. I'm sure Hillar and many others on here would agree.
