I had bias redlines on my 69 Pontiac. I LOVED the look and hated the ride! Its funny as I had bias on my 58 Plymouth and they felt fine. My redlines were Firestone Wide Ovals from Coker Tire.

well with the 4;10 gears it will be short trips around town..the look of the t/a`s just don`t look right on the car for me..i want the car to look like it did in 69`but i might hate the drive of it!maybe i`am selling the t/a`s to soon
Yes! keep the radails until good weather, and try the bias plys.. with 4:10 and "short runs" you will need some more Firestones lol The T/A 'S will work on my Ventura

I would never go back to putting bias ply tires on any car. I hate the way they ride and the handling sucks compared to radial. Look around or ask 427 Carl who makes a radial redline.
Cars are meant to be driven and I wouldn't put any car or anybody at risk by running bias ply tires. Save them for car shows. They really should be against the law....my
Can't be worse than what i was doing for the past 5 years?... radials up front, bias ply slicks in the back... wasn't too bad, but you had to hold on like a rodeo!...being slicks and soft the back end felt like jello... i was used to it... I have never had the pleasure of driving a car with bias ply's on all 4...
When I first bought my 66 427 4-speed Corvette it had blackwall Goodyear Eagle GT's P215/65R15 - I hated the look and replaced them with a set of 7.75-15 goldlineBF Goodrich Silvertown bias ply-the car drove like a dream-I loved it ! handled way better-the car was meant to have them-I drove it locally and even to Carlise, PA and back
When I bought my 65 327 4-speed Corvette it had a set of redline Michelins on it-first thing I did was order BF Goodrich Silvertown goldlines 7.75-15-again drove way better and looked 100 times better !
My brother had a 70 454 4-speed Corvette with BF TA's I suggested Firestone Wide Ovals like yours-night and day for looks-drove just as good or better
You can't beat the look Bill-and really even if you remotely think the radials would be better-how much are you going to drive it ?
I think a lot of people confuse Nylon with Bias and/or buy old rotted bias-old radials aren't much good either.
Pet peeve-every nut and bolt along with codes have to be correct on a restoration then along come the BF T/A raised white letters ! that OK even for the judges !
i have firestone bias red lines on my 68 sd 396 350 hp auto car and i have been blazing them off for 2 seasons now and there still like new , they dont handle like a radial but they sure take a beating . they look great and seem to hook good in a strait line but kina blow in the corners, if your not driving every day then go with the bias for the looks. if you have both hang on to them till spring and make the call yourself, i have the goodyear speedway 350 bias tires on another one of my cars and miss the ride of the ta radials, but i rarely drive that car and win shows with it so its a trade off i geuss,
I would say if you are driving it a lot the radials will be a better choice. Can't beat the ride and handling compared to bias plies. But that said, when I first got my 63 Grand Prix in the 80s, I out a new set of G70 14 General bias plies on it and the car handled and rode very well.
NOT SURE IF I`AM DOING THE RIGHT THING HERE,BUT MAN THOSE BIAS PLYS LOOK RIGHT ON THE CAR..ANYBODY RUNNING BIAS PLY TIRES?HOW DO THEY FEEL!!
Hi Bill When I put my car together there was no way I was putting radials on the car. I put over 2500 miles on my car last year and the ride and handling is perfect. You rode in it so you know how it works. This year it is making another trip or two to New York and one to Illinois. No radials. Make sure that you have a good alignment shop set up your front end. The alignment for radials is different than what you would use for those tires so again choose a good alignment shop. If you need the specs for setting up your car with the Firestone's let me know and I can send you what I have or I can give you the name of the shop that did my car.

Completely off topic here, but since this thread is 2 months old I don't feel bad hi-jacking it. I picked up some TA's to replace the 20+ year old radials that are currently on my car. I haven't put them on yet though because I want to get a picture of the old gal lighting them up before they go in the scrap pile. Very imature I know but I thought if anyone would understand, it might be someone here...

Here's a shot of what passed for "Super Low Profile" in 67. It's the original spare from my Gp...I won't be taking of the T/A's anytime soon. Although I admit it would be cool to take a shot with 4 of these skinnys in place, and perhaps just a wee drive for oldtimes sake.
Some cars, Beaumonts in particular seem to look good with white lettered bias plys. They just seem to suit them. But I can't say the same for the bigger bodies.

I understand very well roast 'em and post the pic's
i drive my 65 Bel Air with bias tires and i am getting back in 1982 the last time i drove those................................hell you got to get back into it !!!!!
but they look so nice on the car especially with the white walls !!!!
on a nice road they are ok and with a perfect alignement under 45 mph i would consider driving without my seat belts !!!
but on a bad road like we mostly have here in the Quebec province and no power steering irssssshhhhhhhh and my alignement is a bit of so 45 50 mph max in the old 4 coil spring ship.
