We found the sunshine, yah

Well after two attempts to get my travel trailer into the drive for loading, we finally got it cleaned and loaded.  Each time I planned to bring it home the snow fell 6" or more and made it impossible to back the trailer into the drive.
We left Michigan on Jan. 14, 2010 and stopped in Indianapolis to see my daughter's family and celebrate the 6 year old's birthday.
Friday, Jan. 15 we drove about 400 miles and stayed in southern Tennesee just above the Alabama line.  Still not warm enough.  Following day, we visited the wife's cousin in Huntsville, Alabama and Sunday they have a reunion of the wife's cousins, about 30 in all.  Monday it was in the lower 60's and no jackets necessary.  Tuesday we headed for Florida but a blowout on the car hauler delayed us in Montgomery, AL.
Wednesday, Jan. 20, we arrived at my brother in law's house in Panama City, FL.  Spend a day with their family and dinner at a Mexican Cantina.  Friday we were back on the road to southern Florida but at low speed, I kept hearing a tire noise in the rear.  Stopped at a WalMart and found the spare I put on had a hole in the side.  Bought a new tire and we were back on the road.  We drove until we were tired and it was dark, so we just crawled into the travel trailer behind the car hauler and got some sleep.  Sat. Jan. 23, we drove to my sister's condo just north of Tampa to deliver their new flat screen they bought in Michigan for the condo.  Ran into some neighbor's we knew and spend a few minutes discussing the weather outlook.  Pulled out of there and headed for Ft Myers, FL our final destination.  Upon arrival, I called my brother who brought his Yukon over to the parking lot accross from out RV park.  I disconnected my trailer from the car hauler and hooked it up to his Yukon.  I used his truck to back my trailer into our lot as my 30' car hauler was too long to use for backing the trailer in our spot.
So now we are all parked and set up.  Monday night I drove the convertible over to the local cruise in and ran into 8-10 guys I either knew from last year or talked to while unloading the car when we arrived.
Yesterday was the first opportunity I had to try to catch up on news on the Internet.  I was so shocked and just taken back by Hillar's passing.  I was a cancer survivor at 50 and now 13 years later I'm so thankful to be enjoying this relaxing life style with my wife of 44 years, I thank god everyday.  All I can say is, from the bottom of my heart, Hillar, RIP.
I look forward to cruising some local sales and swap meets.  I have already been approached by several guys from the past about traveling together to search for auto treasure.  It will be 77 or so today and into the 80's tomorrow.
I'm leaving this morning for a business about 20 miles up the road that specializes in power top componets for our old cars.  They seem to have just about everything in new reproduction parts.  If anyone is in need of convertible parts or power top componets, let me know and I can check on them for you.
Stay warm guys,  Norm

We are in North Ft Myers, in an RV park on Tamiami trail.  I drove up to Hydro-Electric in Punta Gorda today.  They are a great company with tons of parts and inventory.  They are primarily a phone sales office in a warehouse.  On the phone all day with restorers, installation shops & individual car owners.  Therefore they really enjoyed the fact I drove the convertible.  The main man, Dan, came outside and confirmed the correct pump/motor unit for my car after I had verified all the electrical connections were functioning properly.  It was a great trip on a sunny day.  I brought home a catalog along with the new pump/motor to repair my power top.
Enjoy every day and let me know if I can help,  Norm
