A Couple of Recent Kijiji Collectables

Hi guys,

Before Christmas, someone on this site posted a Kijiji ad for an old 50's Pontiac steering wheels for sale. I contacted the seller and made the deal.

The wheel is great. It's solid, no cracks and just the right amount of patina. It's just going on the wall in the garage for now.

While dealing with this seller, he mentioned that he was getting rid of some other collectable items and I bought those as well. First there are 4 different coloured trays for hanging in your open window at the drive-through. Secondly, was what I found the most interesting and something I had never heard of. The sellers claimed it is from the 50's and is Canadian distributed. It's a remote car starter.

Cool eh ? The original box is a little rough and this instructions are missing (seller is still looking for them), but I just couldn't resist. Check out the pics below :

VERY COOL! I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HOW THAT WORKS. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF ONE THAT OLD. REMINDS ME OF WHEN I HEARD ABOUT GM TESTING AIR BAGS IN CARS IN THE EARLY 1970'S. NOT SURE IF ANY MADE IT TO PUBLIC SALE. SEEMS TO ME THEY MADE 2000 EACH OF A FEW DIFFERENT MODELS. NEAT STUFF.

OK I'll bite, didn't think they had wireless remotes back then, so, How long's the cord from the car to the house area??????   If it's too short to reach, you'll still have to go outside to start it from the porch!!!!

Wireless Extension Cords

Power Where You Need It

Because technology is constantly changing, one of the greatest tools to the do-it-yourselfer is the extension cord. Now you can put anything in any room you want - even outside. Every once in a while, though, a long cord across the floor can be more dangerous than helpful.

Hi guys,

Here's a couple of better pictures.

These pieces appear to mount under the hood and the quick disconnent end
dangles out of the front ?

This piece would probably stay on your garage. The wound up length of wire
is probably 10 or 12 feet long :

Carl,

You're welcome to these car-hop trays if you want them.

The seller just threw them in for free with the remote starter and steering wheel.
Assuming they're from the 50's, that's a little before my time and someone else may
appreciate them more than I.

Let me know.

Scott

I'd love that blue on if you end up selling them seperately!

Cool! All that's missing is some device to pump the gas pedal and set the choke!

My hunch is a 1950s remote starter means... remote from under the hood... not what like what we know now... so you can start and tune/work on your motor from under the hood...

I had the exact same thing in mind as the posting above, as I read all the preceding postings. It would make more sense it being of that nature than an actual remote car starter. Just looking at the wiring included led me to that belief.
