hurst / muncie shifter handle

I recently passed on a reasonably priced oem shifter for my 1967 beaumont. I currently have a hurst shifter in my car that I have grown to like. I have been debating what to do for quite a while with the shifter in my car and still have not made a decession. Have any of you tried the adaptor for the "muncie" shifter handle to the hurst shifter? Does it fit right or sit to high? I like the stock look and may eventually buy a factory shifter. Does the Muncie shifter work on a T-10 if I decide to go that route down the road?

I think it would be easy to make. I'd be scared of the height though. I had the same thought.

How does it look? The bend doesn't look quite right for a 67 but it's got me interested.

It 'looks" exactly the same as the photo! wink

I heated the bottom, to get a better bend for my bench seat, but was threatened by other CP membrs to run the Hurst shifter stick   I was quite upset, as car has all original replacement parts...disbelief

I have an adapter that I could send. I had to make a new one to reposition the shifter handle in my car. This was due to modifications to a 1966 kit to fit in my 67. Send me a PM with address if you want me to send it.

I was reading through some other forums about the adaptor and they say it does raise the shifter mount up between 1"-2" but none of them complain about it being an issue. I could cut out 1" off the bottom of a reproduction muncie shifter and re weld the mount to compensate for the adaptor. I also wonder if the one from Hubbard would be the best way to go?

After changing my mind 100 times I decided to go with the Hubbard shifter. It is a direct bolt on so no need for the adaptor. I didn't have to butcher my lower shift boot to use this one and I think it looks good. It has the 66 beaumont / chevelle bends to it but with the hurst shifter the throws are nice and short. No need to row over to 3rd.

When I saw the Impala photo with the Munice shifter picture, it reminded me of the Hubbard stick I have, and have not used    I think I will now..
