It's good to know who to buy from.

It's always nerve wracking buying over the Internet no matter how good the pics and descriptions are. I've done it once without an inspection, and the car turned out to be very good, almost (but not quite) as good as described.

For the last two I was considering however, I had them inspected, and I was glad I did as both were of lesser quality than the pics and descriptions indicated. And I didn't buy them as a result.

Inspections = money well spent.

A friend of mine from Alberta is big into 66 Chev B body cars with 427/425 L72's.  A few years ago, there was one for sale about 400 miles south of here. It was high dollars, but a pretty unusual low mile car. I mentioned I may be able to check it out for him. While I am not a professional appraiser, I am no stranger to cars and certainly not a stranger to B bodies!

He offered to pay my gas, room and food for a night if I would go check it out.  It cost him a bit more than 200 bucks if I recall right. Took the family and stayed an extra night on our own expense. It worked out well for both of us because when I had the classic car dealer put the car up on a hoist for me to inspect, I discovered about a 3 foot section of frame that was repaired (collision) on the passenger side. The car had either been put hard into a ditch and hit something solid, or it had been T-boned at some point.

Money well spent for him when he was looking at somewhere over 40 grand by the time that car would have been home. That car was sold to someone else...

I cannot understand why the bidding is not a lot higher on this wagon. You could not come close to building it for $20,000. The Safari owners would pay big bucks for the factory air conditiong parts alone.

I think it will climb to 10   but  thats a deal    It needs a little clean up but  what a solid car    If I had some extra cash, I would bid 10 on it, just to keep someone from stealing it.....

I emailed him and deciphered his paint and trim codes. That car should not have been built with a red interior unless someone ordered it that way or an error was made. Only two interiors were available for that station wagon and the white/ light green was a better combination.

In his description he states the interior has been redone. From the pictures it looks like the vinyl has been sprayed with a dye to change the colour from red to blue. It my opinion the blue suits the exterior colour better.
