I fell in love with this truck today

Do you ever have a desire for something and the universe sends it along. It happens to me all the time (the Laurentian for example). Well, the last few weeks I've been thinking that someday I'd like a Tahoe, Suburban or a Yukon. Most of the older ones (6-10 years old) seem to have over 200k on them. Well the unheard of happened at work- TWO of them were traded in. One is out of my range - a 2008 Suburban (which I happen to love the front end styling on). The other (which I found out is still out of my price range) is a 2000 Yukon XL SLT. The Yukon is damn near mint. Only 93000kms. I don't think this one ever saw a snowflake. The original paint is fantastic and the underneath is like new. She needed nothing for safety.  Oh ya, she's loaded, dual AC, HD towing package etc etc. Now get this: The owner's last name is Sinclair- the same Sinclair who owned Sinclair Pontiac, Buick, GMC in London (Since taken over by Dale Downie a few years ago). Yes, this is the same Sinclair Pontiac that my dad bought his 69 Pontiac and 77 Lemans Sport Coupe from! "My" price is still beyond my budget but I did save this:

sinclair.jpg

It had come off the liftgate and was in the garbage! Now do you think if I put it under my pillow I'll find a bag of money in it's place tomorrow morning? biggrin
I think the universe it toying with me this time!

Well, I`m down to $9000 for my 2001 Yukon with 148,000 km. I paid $25,000 for it out the door 4 years ago. The price of these have fallen way down.

I have to say that I am so happy we rebulit the engine in our '99 Suburban SLT. We have had it since day one and it was $65,000 on the road back then. There were no Denali's in 99 so it was the top dog. We put 210,000 km on the engine. With the weather we have had the past few weeks you can never underestimate the value of a truck like this in Canada. Now that it it 5.8 litres and putting out 300 HP it is like driving a new truck, transfer case recent overhauled too so I expect this GMC to reach 400,000 km now.

We bought our 07 as a long term hauler,  With Todd's help, when he was at GM   my wife loves it, and I drove it to N.B. and averaged 20 mpg at  75-80 mph....Barb averages 24 mpg  6000lbs 4x4

That's way too much. I know it has low klms but it's 10yrs old. Gerry had a 2000 with 155 klm loaded, leather that took awhile to sell at $7995 and he was making money on it. The XL models are usually cheaper (used).

I'll buy my time with it. I didn't see it today at work- perhaps the Gen Manager took it home.

I wonder if a later front end treatment would bolt on- I love the front end look like on Carl's Suburban.

Todd, the sheet metal is all new for 07 so you can't change the front appearance. Actually, 07 came in Classic or New Style sheet metal. Classic looks like 06 and the new one is 07 and up.

Todd, your area must be different than here. Dealers here wouldn't put a 10yr. old vehicle on their lot, anything over 4 to 5yrs. gets 'whole sale'd" & I can't understand this?? We bought a "new" a 06 VIBE & traded in a 3 1/2 yr old car, they told me they'd whole sale it, & I asked 'why do that, don't you want to resell it" They said 2 things [1] it's not a GM we only keep GM's [2] it's close to 4 yrs. old & if was a GM borderline to keeping it. We don't sell "old used cars"  I thought in todays market they would want to have cars that people can afford to buy, not used cars at 18 grand & UP!!!
