Without a doubt the 66 Newport or 300 are some of the best examples of that mid 60's big car styling. The 383 will pick it up as well with little trouble. It would be sad to say goodbye to the Pontiac, but you'll certainly have more modern handling, ride and performance in the 66. If you like the mopar, I'd say it would be a fair trade.

Just really check it out for hidden rust issues.

The 66 300 had a gorgeous interior. I think the Newport has the same dash.

Check out your Province's tax laws. Here in Ontario, you have to pay tax on the appraised value even if it's a straight trade, don't know what Quebec's tax laws are?? Get the Chyrsler up on a hoist, & make sure the underside is NOT rusted out along with the floor pans. Does Quebec require a safety inspection? Best to have that done before you trade, that way you won't get taken for alot of repairs!!!

These mid 60's chryslers are know for starter, alternator, distributor and ballist resistor recurring problems. When I was in high school and working at a used car lot the owner sold a lot of these cars. They were always hundreds of dollars cheaper than an equivalent, GM or Ford product. If you make the trade always carry a ballist resistor with you.

Always had one or two extra ressistors in the glove box so I didn`t get left on the side of the road.

I'd keep a '56 Pontiac, especially in the condition this one is in, over a '66 Chrysler anything, any day. I don't know if it's just the way the picture of the Chrysler is taken, but it looks like rust on the inside front passenger's side wheel-well. I also think the classic pink and black is far nicer on the Poncho than the snot-brindle green on the Chrysler. I'm not being derogatory or cutting the Chrysler down at all, it's just MY opinion guys. Years ago it was common practice to part green cars out because they weren't as desirable as other colours; especially black or red ones with black interiors and black paint finishes. Nowadays it doesn't matter if it's green just save them!

The first image of the 66 was just an example off Google images.
And I agree, green isn't very becoming on that car. So here's a copper one...

I guess it's really all about what you like at the time and the more I see, the more I realize that the 56 HT is one car you'll rarely ever see. And I obviously love the HT aspect.

It's really apples and oranges here isn't it. Each has it's own appeal. But I've now shifted to "keep the 56". I think it's the less "disposable" of the two. Chryslers never really had a quality reputation anyway. Nice looking, but cheap.
