Acadian radio delete plates

Rather than clutter up the for sale thread for the nice white 63, I wanted to bring this here.

I have removed delete plates from Novas and Acadians that were painted but never paid attention to the years.  What is your observation about what models were black and what models were painted interior colour?

My 65 SD delete is black but so is the interior. I never gave it much thought.

I've also had one that had no colour on it.

I have a few that are not painted but I'm not sure what years they're from.

I have had plates from both Chevy II's and Acadian's that were clear coated aluminum and only one that was painted like Steve's.  The painted one was beige in color and had the narrow grooves.  Some of the plain ones had wider grooves.

This is the dash from Brian's car. This car was never restored and the interior was totally original when I pulled it out of the barn where it sat for for over 20 years.acadian canso 008.jpg

Why were they ever named delete plates ? Its not like the radio was standard but optional.

WOW! Express post $16. included $100. ins. Regular post w/$100. ins would have been $18. and slower service.
