I just purchased a 56 Pontiac, what I believe is a Pathfinder, but the insurance registration for some reason shows it as a Laurentian?? Maybe some of you here can shed some light.
You can add me to the registry, if this is enough information:
There is a slight change in numbers for 1956. 2019 is a Pathfinder Deluxe 4 door sedan. If it had a D following that number it would be a Laurentian. The easiest way to distinguish between the two is by the mouldings around the side glass on the doors. The pathfinder deluxe has a thin moulding at the lower edge of the door at the bottom of the window. The Laurentian has a wide moulding at the top and bottom of the window mounted on the door. Yuor car is equivilant to at 210 Chev. 4 door sedan. Your paint code 2004 is a single colour called Sherwood green metalic. A dealer probably added the the second colour which is a cream or white as a two tone. Sherwood Green as a two tone from the factory would have had either Pinecrest Green or India Ivory as a second colour. 3072 is the sequence number of Pathfiner deluxe 4 door sedans built. The interior is described as having a foam-rubber cushioned front seat, horiziontally ribbed pattern cloth is on seats and backs with simulated bolsters and facings in starfrost vinyl. Backrest bolsters are enhanced by matching buttons. Door panels and floor mat are all vinyl with a cloth headlining. The colour should be Dark Green Patterned cloth with the Starfrost Vinyl.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the Best Website for Canadian Pontiacs.
My books don't show style 2019 for '56. In 55 it was a Pathfinder deluxe 6 cyl sedan. In 56 the Pathfinder deluxe 6 cyl sedan was style 2069...
The Laurentian for 56 is listed as style 2069D

Well, I couldnt find another tag, something having the engine size, and VIN, this is the only one I could find, which is on the drivers side, above the fire wall:
Thanks Al, very informative. Its good to know what was originally on the car! I know the previous owner had painted the car (himself) and maybe changed it to the 2 tone at that time??
You guys brothers for real ? Cool !! Nice to have the same interests. You guys will have to join in on our next coffee get to gether . As you can see from another post we had twelve at our last get to gether at a fellow members garage.
Ya, we're "brothers for real". We've both had an interest in classic cars for awhile now.
I was originally looking for a mid 50's Chevy or Pontiac. When I didn't have any luck, I ended up picking up a 66 Chrysler 300.
Seeing and driving in Bobs 53 kept me looking though, and now ive added the 56 Pontiac to the collection. She needs quite a bit of work, but she should be an interesting project!
How often do you have these coffee's? Id be interested in checking one out.
The coffee dates are very flexible, informal, loosely organized. All it takes is couple of guys like yourself to say "it's time for a coffee" and volunteer to put the heat on in your garage so we can stand there and yak........ (hint, hint!)

Im looking for a small, gas mig welder, something that would be good for body work. One that plugs into a regular 120v outlet. (20amp I would assume) I sent you a private message.

Well, I picked up a new machine. I havent hooked up the gas to it yet, to work with the argon, but worked a little in the garage tonight with Bob, just using the flux core.
It worked pretty good, got the garage door fixed with a few gorilla welds. :)
Gonna need a bit more practice before working on the 56 with it!
Hey Ken, nice to see you here, what's on your project list for your 56? When you need info or help, here's the place to come - Al Taylor in particular is a true expert, many of the other guys also, and once in a while I might know something too.
Dave
