Every few months I receive a new Summit Racing catalog in the mail (I bought a LOT from them when I was gathering parts for my 496). Usually I toss out the old and keep the new. For some reason I tossed out the new last time, but this time, I decided to compare prices over the 6 months between catalogs.
As we all know, the lying thieving overpaid scum in charge of things at GM have ridden it right into the ground, and now the taxpayers are rewarding them for it.
And as we all know, we are still in a recession. Might be a glimmer of hope on the horizon, but good times are not yet back.
So you would think prices would be lower, to attract buyers, eh?
Here's data from the Summit catalogs - I have included data from some other non GM remanufactured engines, as well as a few standard go-fast parts:

By the way, now is the time to buy that complete (carb, distributor, everything, dyno tested) 383 stroker!

I was pretty sure it is not Summit - that's why I checked some other parts - and they have practiced being the price leader. However I just checked Jeg's and they have the old prices. So now I'm not sure.

Too hard to navigate their website - and Sallee no longer shows prices - however crate engine depot has prices like the "old" ones - ZZ572 $13,208 ZZ502 $8,391 454 H.O. $5,562 ZZ4 $4,179
I guess maybe Summit is thinking these things are more valuable now that GM is hurting?
Oh, crate engine depot shows that they still have these babies:
