How many guys does it take to remove a hood?

No, this is not one of those "change a light bulb" jokes smile.gif

My 56 has typical spring-mount hood, it has been a long time since I removed a hood, and back then we had lots of guys in the shop so it was not a problem ....

Can 2 guys do it? Keep in mind one has to undo the bolts ...

Or is the minimum number 3 guys (one on the side, one in the front to keep it from dropping down, and one on the other side undoing the last bolts)?

Details of the method are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave

I've always done it with 2.... you each have a ratchet and take out all but one bolt....then one person removes there last bolt while the other holds....then vice versa....still requires the use of a shoulder when removing the last bolt. If you can scrounge up 3 people...I would go that way......hope this helps....

Thanks John, memories come flooding back, you are (of course) right, the shoulder is the key, that is how we will do it.

How is your 72 coming along?

Dave

I removed a 67 hood by myself using a blanket, a piece of plywood and the ratchet. No scratches so it can be done.
Much better with 2 people that have shoulders LOL

It is sometimes hard to tell, when both your body and your eyes are deteriorating, but I think my shoulder cannot be replaced by a blanket or a piece of plywood, eh? biggrin

I sure hopes she likes Margaritas ... or Gin & Tonic ... or any of these fine house drinks:

Vodka Gimlet

Ouzo (Greek-style)

Greyhound (Lemonade [fresh-squeezed from our tree!] & Vodka)

Chocolate Martini

Sour Apple Martini

Mai Tai (Hawaii-style)

Blue Hawaiian

Piña Colada

Myers Dark Rum & Pineapple Juice (Bahamas-style)

Necessity is the mother of invention.
Also I'm sure my wife would be happy if I was replaced with a piece of plywood and a blanket some days rofl.gif

The '72 is slow right now....just got the lower balljoints pressed in to the A arms.  The I hope to finish cleaning and painting the upper and lower A arms this week.  It's slow, but it's coming...hope to have it moving under it's own power by about Fall time....I hope..

Sometimes she says talking to me is like talking to a piece of wood.
This is usually after an exchange like the following
She "How did you like the broccoli chicken casserole?"
Me " "
She "Did you hear my question?"
Me "yes"
She "Well"
Me " "
She "why do I even bother?"
Me "I don't know"
She "talking to you is like talking to a piece of wood"

She knows I intensly dislike broccoli. Always have and always will.
I ate it and did not complain.

I always get "what do you want for supper?"

She gets back "when was the last time you heard me complain when you made a meal?"
