I know my car is not a pontiac, but at least it was built in canada in the oshawa plant! How rare do you think my 4 door 78 chevrolet Bel Air with a 250 inline six is?, I have only seen one in my life and that was back in high school about five years ago, any numbers or facts, thanks for any info as there is litteratly none out there on the net.
Geez, I don't know how to break it to you, every cop car and taxi in every major centre in North Amercia used these, I'll bet they made 250,000 of them at least.
although they were likely fairly high production there can't be many left seeing most were purchased for service unlike more mainstream cars that would have been saved in a garage. I like this kind of car-common in its day-brings back memories for most-they have a real place in the collector car hobby-I recall having a 64 bel air 4-door 20 years ago-most would say too bad its a 4-door the rest would comment on having one before or my dad had one like it-they really relate to this type of "common" car of the era. Way better to have a clean solid car like this than a so called "rare" one with no floor

Not rare enough to stop me from cutting it up LOL! just messing with you 72 luxo I love them cars my favorite car I had was a 79 2dr belair with a 400sbc.
I could be wrong but I think by 1978 the Belair was only produced in Canada. The Impala became entry model in the US with the 1977 down size. Another Canadian only! Dale @ NOS

Just to let you know, I have not forgotten about asking for hubcaps for your car. There are two cars I can recall that may have caps. However, both families have a bit of a crisis right now. One a young boy has serious health concerns and the other one a death in the family, strange as it may seem...
I want to wait a bit to approach either one.

In Canada, Chevrolet continued the Bel Air as its lowest-priced full-size car through the 1981 model year. For 1977, Canadian Bel Airs received the same downsizing as their Impala/Caprice counterparts in the U.S. Body styles offered during this period were a four-door sedan, two-door coupe and station wagon. Reflecting the smaller size of these downsized big cars was a lineup of generally smaller engines for improved fuel economy with Chevy's 250 cubic-inch six-cylinder reinstated as standard power in sedans for the first time since 1973, with the 140 horsepower (100 kW) 305 V8 available as an option in sedans and standard on wagons. The 170 horsepower (130 kW) 350 V8, available in both models, was now the top option as the larger 400 small block and 454 big block V8s were no longer available. Standard equipment on Bel Airs during this period included small hubcaps, cloth-and-vinyl upholstery in sedans or all-vinyl in wagons, cigarette lighter, ashtray, automatic dome light for front doors, full carpeting, Astro Ventilation, Delco Freedom battery, variable-ratio power steering, power front disc brakes and Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission.
Thanks everyone. I can understand what you mean Carl buy giving the famlies some space, no rush anyways. Wernt most taxi/police vehicles Impalas, not the canadian made Bel Air? As fare as those hub caps go Carl, should the wheel be painted body colour or left black? Thanks again guys.
I know the brown car here has brown rims, so I would imagine that is uniform. With that said, I don't recall seeing any white or light coloured rims but the two cars here are navy blue or brown, so I'm not positive.
