I ran a Cheeta for two lights on Woodward 3 years ago. Pulled ahead and beat him when I hit 3rd gear. A couple of lights later one of Detroit's finest pulled up beside me and suggested that I not squeel my tires and that I "sure cleaned that orange car"!

Chris you are the wagonmeister for sure! smile.gif

Especially love the 55 (or 56?) Ford racecar and the big Chrysler pushing the rail.

I guess I should scrounge up an old photo and scan it of my 69 Vistacruiser (now THAT was a WAGON - stretched wheelbase, windows in the roof, woodgrain on the sides, comfy fast & stylish, ahhh ...) pulling my race car, eh?

(The Vistacruiser was later replaced with a 454 crew cab dually, but the Olds [Pontiac's big brother, no?] did the job when it needed to)

Here is a pic of my old 74 Caprice 454. Talk about wood grain. I used to call it my Walley World car from the Vacation movie with Chevy Chase.

I had scanned this one earlier, no race car on trailer attached but it does show both of my Vistacruisers, the 69 and the 72, if one is good two is better, eh? smile.gif

Nice wagons ! I pulled two 455's out of 1974 Pontiac GrandSafari wagon and 1971 GrandSafari wagon, they had the electric back windows. These cars were HUUUGE ! Wagons are making a come back now...

Here ya go!

First 2 are from May 1979 at Brainerd, before I picked up and installed a roof rack.
You can see how the lower half of the wagon was "woodgrain" with a nice chrome
trim strip that came up over the wheel openings. Note that the racecar is in class
B Production, I ran a 355, big blocks were in A Production back then.

Vistacruiser-01.jpg

Vistacruiser-02.jpg

Last 2 are after I had the racecar painted, still BP (later they merged the A Sedan
Camaros with the Corvettes into one class, GT-1). Sorry, not too much of the
Vistacruiser shows, but in the first picture you can see (I lightened up that part of
the picture, eh?) my top box just inside the tailgate for ready access to tools, and
the jack on the tailgate to keep it out from underfoot. I don't know who those
people are, must be with the car next to me in the paddock.

Vistacruiser-03a.jpg

In the last picture you can see the baby moons I had on it and you can see that
the back is full of spare parts and tools. The taller guy in the middle is me, hard to
believe I was once skinny and had all that dark hair smile.gif

Vistacruiser-04.jpg

That's about it for my 1969 Vistacruiser photos.

Dave
