Chrome on bucket seats

When i did my seats 30yrs ago i used chrome that wrapped around seat from a full sized pontiac
do you think i should use it again or go back to original  spear on sides only
with chrom on door side and painted on inside.
I have new seat upholstery from classic ind to install
Thanks

Are you doing mostly original?

If it's modified I'd use the Pontiac stuff.

Original for sure because it's the first thing you will see in the interior.

Oh won't that be fun to get into after it's been out in the sun on a 35 degree day! You won't be able to touch a thing...

About 10 years ago I had several sets of the inside and outside trim.  I never gave it much thought.  I sold them off over a couple years thinking I would find another parts car to strip them from in the future.
Well it has been 6 or 7 years since I've had any extra's and I haven't even seen any for sale.  Luckily both of my cars have the original seats with excellent trim so no problem but I have a set of bare seats with none of the trim and haven't been able to sell them mainly because of the missing trim.
So, my suggestion is use the originals, don't take a chance on not having the original trim available in the future.
These are stainless steel, hard to find without pits and will probably never be reproduced.
The chrome over the top trim was used on the full size cars and anyone with any knowledge of GM cars will immediately recognize they don't belong in the car.
