There are a lot of deals to be had down in the U.S. I spent a couple of hours scanning cars for sale on Ebay located in California and there are a few good buys. Brian (68 327 4 spd) dropped by the other night with my floorpans he picked up for me in Michigan and had a load of cars from California on his truck, most of which were Ebay purchases. There was quite am mix ranging from a 73 Porsche 911 to a Chevy S10.  He said I could have a car shipped to my door from Sacramento for about $1600. That's pretty good considering the money you save on rust repair! I think the biggest deals in Cali are old VW Beetles. You can get a clean one for under 2 grand. There are of course deals on good ol American iron as well...

I've been tire kicking boats on craigslist MN for the past couple of months... I agree the timing is right for a shopping spree! There are deals to be had...

I've also heard alot of guys selling are not getting decent cash offers, alot of trades plus cash etc... so having a mitt full of money and haggling hard on price can net some nice buys!

the space is my big thing. If I had the space I would have lots coming up now. The fact that you will not likely find a rust free Canadian car keeps me humble.

Still like the fact we get GM doc. paper with Canadian cars. I wonder if a lot of the VW bugs are ones made in Mexico and have made there way into CA ?

I'm looking too. From an exchange rate perspective - and probably a market one too - this is a good time to buy. Probably the best becasue even when the cars were reasonably priced back 6 or 7 years ago, the exchange rate was terrible.

When I bought my 63 Catalina in 2000, it cost me almost double the price of the car to get it home - and the shipping cost was a small portion of that; it was mostly the exchange rate.
