canadian 62 belair bubbletop on ebay

anyone see the canadian built red 62 bubble top on ebay right now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1962-CHEVROLET-BELAIR-BUBBLE-TOP_W0QQitemZ330413016602QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item4cee26861a

GM docs are posted in the listing.

Interesting how the seller blanked out the "283 engine"  and replaced it with "V8"

a bit sneaky in hiding that it was a small block originally.

I've always had a soft spot for these. Makes me wonder why they didn't keep that design for a number of years. The steelies look great too.

I don't know much about 409 4 spd cars, but did they not have 2 upper control arms to handle the torque?? I know that is how Aubrey retro'ed my old 62??

just asking....

They definitely had two uppers for the torque. A friend of mine in Jordan Ont. is building one to run Nostalgia Drags.

I think the ad states pretty clearly that it is not an original 409 car, to me anyway.

Ok, I didn't see it that way but deleted my post in the interest of giving him the benefit of the doubt.

THIS IS A DOCUMENTED CANADIAN BUILT CAR

ONE OF THE 709 BUBBLE-TOPS BUILT.

THIS BUBBLE TOP WAS RESTORED TO REFLECT

WHAT MANY CONSIDER TO BE THE CAR THAT STARTED THE MUSCLE CAR ERA, A 4-SPEED 409 BELAIR!

I love this car.  Unfortunately for me this clone is definitly bidding out of my range.  I really don't care if it's not an original 409 because this way I wouldn't need to feel guilty about driving the heck out of it.  There are some cars, I grew up with, even had a role in racing them both legally and illegally but I cannot afford to own them so I will take a clone instead.
It is a fine line we walk as members of this site.  I try to point out the things that aren't correct on the car in order to put the information out there for everyone to know.  It is never my purpose to try to effect the value of the car.  The value is between the buyer and the seller.
It is always a tough balance, to make an honest comment without making it appear I'm trashing the car.

427carl, please don't list the 66 right away, I'm still trying to trade up to a point where I can afford it.

OMG, OMG, OMG, Why didn't I think of that.   Now there is that whole thing with currency exchange, I 'm not very good at this math thing.  Most of my math is from the 50's & 60's.  I have 35k invested in my 63 SD and the last I heard the number on your 66 was 15K, even with my limited math skills, there seems to be a disparity of roughly 20K.  Taking into consideration what a good guy Iam the limit of my generousity is about 5k, bringing the difference down to 15K.

I'm afraid this deal is starting to sound like the "Take it or No Deal"  I made with GM and Delphi last year.  They said "no more benefits after April 1, 2009.  I said you mean no health care, dental, vision, life insurance, dependent insurance or Rx drugs??
They said, yes, we wanted to make this easy to understand, so we cancelled everything".  I said "wow" I will need to take another look at my pension benefits.
They said, don't worry, that won't be a concern.  We have not paid any money into your pension fund for several years, so we are just going to turn it over to the federal government because there isn't anyway they could screw it up any worse.

So, there you have it even after all those one way negociations, I just can't bring my self to accept your offer.  I'm holding out for food stamps.

P.S.  I have applied to the "NEW" GM for a job starting at $14/hr and almost no benefits but there seems to be some problem with the damage done by "AGENT ORANGE WHILE IN VIETNAM, or could be the kidney I lost to cancer during the time I was being treated for post stress disorder and all the stress factors related to my 35 years in Salary Management.  They aren't sure I will have enough years left to redevelop all of those symptones again.      LOL LOL, that's all I can do

OH my Goodness!    I forgot about the exchange!

I figured that the 427 Strato Chief would double in value once it went to U.S. like the Bel Air did!!! lol

I am sorry!  I was just trying to ease the pain, and I made you think of all that pain from GM!!    I will just throw in my 15k Ventura II  and a pair of CP keychains....

Do the cars have CP decals on the window?  Also, I would need to know the keyrings were NOS, having never had an automotive key on them.

Not sure they would let me into Ontario, I'm a card carrying loyal member of the Starbucks Brew crew and It has been 6 months since my last visit to a Tim's.

The last item on my list of demands is, while in Florida, I have vowed to make at least one trip to a dragstrip this summer for the purpose of a test run on the 63 SD or possibly a test run on the L-79, if in fact I trade my convertible for it.
I was hoping to recruit you as my guest crew chief being that I would be doing this in Ontario, what with the exchange rate, altitute variance and all.
Im thinking the 66 could be a worthy advisary for the small cars.

The L-79 Nova is in New York and the owner has offered it to me in trade for the convertible.  The story is, a "rustfree" 117 car when new, that was later treated to a dealer installed L-79.  I have the casting numbers and engine pad codes to verify the exterior correctness of the motor.  In terms of the casting dates, I'm not really concerned because the story is undocumented.  The car has an M-21 four speed, original SS interior, dual snorkel air cleaner and an open 3:08 ten bolt.
It should be fun to try and keep this one hooked up.
