More than likely an estate sale issue having to book appointments, executor etc...Rear bumper is dinged and dented but looks very nice otherwise.

I have an appraisal for 23,800 that I had done March 10, 2010.  Should you want to talk to Chad or Clarence Stronge Owner/Licenced Technicians of Canyon Meadows Auto Service 403-251-1778, they advised me I can give out their number as they know this car.  Engine is 283 cubic inch and fuel 4 barrel gas (which is on the appraisal). Serial No 768677711xxxxx

I'm on vacation right now, but will see if I can take a look next week when I'm back as it's likely only a couple miles from my place. Some of these appraisals are way out of whack - likely appraised by someone who doesn't know the market or watches too much Barrett-Jackson.

At $23,800 it will be there a long, long time. i don't want to be rude, but in the current market it probably won't bring half of that. Appraiser was hitting the crack pipe in my opinion!

I spoke with the Widow twice today. Seems like a nice Lady. Was told by her, it was their car from new Feb 1967. Was used in summer only, was his golfing car. She said to me car was a 327 with an automatic transmission and fully equipped. Also car was original and well maintained. They are in the oil patch industry, so money would be of little importance. I have an appointment to see car tomorrow at her home. The adress is upscale area, price seems firm. Not saying what it may or may not be worth, but will certainly know later on thursday this time. I am going with intent on purchasing car, price and general condition will see if that takes place. The last pontiac 2+2 that I bought in fall of 2008 took 6 weeks to complete. But will keep you posted.
Cheers

Good luck and please post some pic's. That's a great background story, so it probably is an original car that is non rusted from new. Never see them here in Ontario except Mark's 67 GP 4 dr. hdtp.biggrin

Hi guys, went and looked at car today. First want to say the widow, is a first class Lady. The car is driver quality only.
Has been repainted at one time in its life, and needs to be redone, lots of chips and scrapes.
Interior needs work, seat on passenger side torn, drives seat has been repaired at one time wrong material and colour, needs rugs and door panel work.etc.
Dash bottom has been repainted, wrong colour, dash pad faded and marked.
Under dash eight track.
Motor is a 283, hasty paint job on that, wrong breather , CTC style on it now, hooked up wrong.
Front bumper needs to be re chromed, Rear bumper has been done poor job.
Pontiac emblems broken.
Wrong wheels as you can see, but in good condition.
Tops very good.
Glass is good.
Power windows only.
The car has been in family since new was deceased owners fathers car.
I did not start car, just did not impress me that much at 23,800, was informed bottom dollar is 20,000. said to me was offered 15,000 can't see it, but you never know.
Having said all that car is very dry, some body repair, not rust issues, but other, parking lot type stuff.
The appraiser, man I do not know what to say, I personally feel, that he would never do a car for me. All he has done is put rose colour glasses on the owner.
Cheers

Thanks for the report. I'm going to get another big Ponch sometime and like to keep abreast of prices & condition. Sounds like a decent car, just over priced.

I looked at the car tonight as it's only a couple miles from my house, and basically same result as carnut70ls4.  I however saw the hard copy of the appraisal which she just received, and jotted down the contact info for the appraiser.  I've never heard of this appraiser before.

Seller is a very nice lady, and she also showed me previous appraisals dating back to the early 90's performed by known local appraisers.  The appraised value went up each time, and recent appraiser probably figured he also needed to keep it climbing.

Just as I was leaving, she asked me what I thought.  I felt I needed to say something, and she said she wanted to hear my thoughts.   Long story short, I said her appraisal was very high, like more than double what the car was worth.  It took her a bit by surprise, but she respected my comment.  We also discussed various forms of appraisals (insurance, sale, etc) and she agreed she didn't want an appraisal for insurance purposes which are padded, she basically wanted to know what the car was worth.  She's had a couple offers of $14K & $15K, so I told her she should take them.  Sad part is she just had $2500 worth of work done on the car at the local service station (all at book rate).

At least you and Wayne told her the straight goods Clint.  Sounds like a decent enough car for someone if it could be had at the proper price.  She told both of you the same story about the $15K offer but boy is that hard to believe based on the assessment of our two highly knowledgeable and credible sources.

$15k sounds like all the money plus some. Thanks for the accurate description guys. I hate being the one to break it to a long time owner in a case like this but somebody's gotta do it. Ridiculous appraisals do no good for anyone and when I hear an owner say it was appraised for.......... I always know whats coming next. An over inflated asking price. Crack Pipe Appraisal Services might as well be the name of most of these guys!
