I went to the scrapyard Bucks Auto pick a part for cheap in Winnipeg and found an old rusty 1976 Pontiac 400 sitting in the yard, I went with one of my friend and he only had a 3/8 drive socket set, I needed a 3/4 deep socket to remove the 6X heads I was after but couldn't remove the highly torque head bolts. I started thinking about something I could use to multiply the torque on the ratchet like a pipe but couldn't find one, then I saw this cross iron bar for removing lug nuts on wheels and it had a 3/4 drive on it so guess what I did, I used it to remove the head bolts, it worked like a charm, you got to improvise sometimes...I got the heads for a great price and had a fruitful day at the wrecking yard.
Great score, next time your at bucks and need a tool, give me a call, I live not to far from there. Pm me next time your going and I will give you my phone number. Or better yet drop in for a visit. I got a set of 6X heads you can pull up and use for a chair LoL
I've done some incredible afro-engineering while at junkyards. Once even used a driveshaft as a lever, with me standing on the end to lift the rear of a car, and used an old exhaust system to hook something from under the car while I was lifting it. Someone should have caught that one on tape.
Junkyard hunting is always fun ! Whatever we end up doing hard work or not seems like all of us carnuts are happy to be there ... I just finished stripping my 1976 Pontiac 400 - 6X heads and they are good cores, good candidates for a port job 455 build up ! Ian next time I go there I'll try to come and visit you, I'll have to PM you for direction, Thanks for the offer.
