Cami has been advertising for production associates for the last two weeks. I worked there 7 years. Maybe I'll reapply.. I don't think I'd like the 6 day work week that is supposed to last until December though!
This is good news for both communities. I do however find myself thinking cynically about the massive layoffs and need for the government bailouts. These GM executives are shrewd, you have to hand it to them how they saw an opportunity to restructrure noncompetitive companies with the world wide financial crisis, get rid of long term realatively high paid workers, recind benefits, obtain free financing and be adding shifts to address demand in less than one year. Masterful.
My neighbor works at Cami and said they are looking to hire a bunch of part timers and apparently will be using them to run the lines on Sundays! I don't like the sounds of this..

my first factory job was weekend crewing at a rubber extruding facility, we worked 12 hours sat and sun -days one weekend-nights the next for straight time dollars-one of the best jobs I had, Labour didn't want a four crew schedule and could guarentee the overtime so the company negotiated with the union-everyone was happy.
