Selling the 57' Laurentian 2 dr hardtop.

I am selling one of my projects so that I can buy a car off of a good friend of mine - "to keep it in the family".

I don't have to tell you guys how hard these are to find in nice shape, or how rare they are.

Right now it has no engine or transmission, but is setup for a SBC and TH350 - comes with all mounts, a new radiator with a transmissions cooler, ceramic coated Hooker headers, etc. Drop in your favourite Small block and go. Rear end is there, all the brakes on the car are pretty fresh, and a spare set of shoes goes with the car.

The interior is all there but the front seat (I have one but its from my 55' - and negotiable) and is in driver quality condition. I was going to put in 60's T-bird bucket seats since they fit like they are made for this car.

The best part of this car is the body and frame. The body is nice and solid. The car has rust in the floor so its not truely rust free but the rest of the car is. The floor will need some patching and the center floor braces replaced. I have the floor braces cut from another car and sandblasted. I was going to just get front pans for the car and replace them instead of patching them. The body mounts are new - when replacing them is when we found the rust in the floor. The rest of the body is very nice, and other than a few scratches and very minor dings, is excellent. This is originally a Red car with white roof and cove.

The car currently has the trim off of it because I was going to be doing a complete color change on the car from its current burgandy to black. I have every single piece of trim, and its all labeled. There is even a bunch of extra trim for the car that goes with it. There is also extra bumpers. The windshield was cracked so I threw it out but all the other glass is good and there. A new windshield is only $200 installed. This car has the rare factory tinted glass also. There is new windsheild and rear window seals for the car. This car looks like it has had one paint job over the original paint - they painted it bugrand - badly.

The car has lots of new parts - a new expoxy coated gas tank, new brakes, complete side mount kit for a modern automatic trans, Ceramic Coated hooker headers, new 4 core radiator with trans cooler, etc, then we get into the extra trim parts for the car - there is doubles of about half of the trim. There is also a set of station wagon springs, a spare rear end, and more that goes with the car.

The only reason I am selling this car is because a good friend is selling the 67' Camaro he bought new. To get that car, I need to make space by selling this one. The car is currently at my hobby shop in alliston - 30 minutes up the 400 from toronto.

$4500 or best reasonable offer

Here are some pics of me moving it to the new shop and how it looked when I got it.

that is a deal, it's looking like your going to have to advertise a little larger than here, just haven't reached the right guy yet !

do you have extra frontend trim, I may need the trim for the fender to bumper drop off? one of mine is dented. I can shoot pics if you think you may have extra's , driver condition is good for me.

Thats about the only trim I don't have extra of. I only have one of the chrome bar that goes accross the hood and the 1 each of the left and right chrome pieces on the fender and they need to go with the car.

I would like to keep the front seat for the 55', but I can use a 4dr seat for it since it has no back seat. I have the car on Kijiji and several other boards also. Seems like nothing is selling.

I'm glad you posted pics of that car Eric, I had no idea how nice it was in talking to you about it over the past few cruise seasons.

I don't want to jump on your post but can you explain what you mean when you say "complete side mount kit for a modern automatic trans". I have never seen a conversion offered like this before. Is there a vendor who make such mounts? Do the Ceramic Coated hooker headers clear these new mounts? Are the front engine mounts at the front of the motor? Got pictures?

The kit is a danchuck I believe. It bolts to the stock mounts on the frame, and to the bellhousing bolts to the engiine. Uses stock front mounts.

Headers fit no problem.

I think I am going to throw it on ebay and see how it goes.

I did find a 63' Laurentian wagon that I am kinda liking.

Hi Rick,

Could you post some pictures of the frame and the underside of the car (wheel wells, rockers, etc)

You body looks very solid compare to mine, maybe I could switch to a 2DHT instead of spending a fortune on my 4 doors sedan.

It's far for me for transport, but it could be doable.

Thanks

Steve

I will get some pics this weekend.

Wheel wells are all good, frame is good, and rockers I think were done before they painted the car, so they are nice and solid also.

Are you the guy in Montreal that has the black four door that is being restored?

Yes I am.

I was just contemplating if my 4 doors was worth investing in when I saw your post. Speak of good timing :)

I had a black four door hardtop that I have sold top a friend of mine. I looked for over a year to find this 2 door hardtop - they are real hard to find.

Given how many 4 door posts there are, I would get a better car to redo. You would be far ahead moneywise.

This car is very solid. It has had some work done - looks like rockers were done and the car was painted, floor was patched. I don't really want to get rid of it, but I picked up the other car already which is a once in a lifetime deal and something has to go.

Lots more pics. Sorry about the quality. I really need a better camera - it can't decide how to use its flash.

I pulled up the rest of the drivers side floor patch. The car will need pans on both sides. They cut out large sections of floor and then had sheetmetal patches riveted on.

thanks for everything, car survived the long haul and is now positioned beside the 4 door hardtop, waiting for its day back on the 2 lane blacktop.

Thanks again,
