Anyone ever sell a car overseas?

I may have a buyer for my 59 Dodge who is located in Austria. Has anyone ever sold a car to someone overseas? What's the safest method of payment? I assume wire transfer however I don't feel all that comfortable giving someone my bank info.
Advice?
Thanks

Todd

Have you ever considered opening an account at a second bank?

The account I use for my paypal has nothing to do with my regular bank. I did that on purpose. To me it feels a lot safer.

Otherwise, I would agree with you.  A transfer would seem the safest.

Hey Todd, have sold a number of cars in Europe.  Just finished selling & shipping to Germany 2 weeks ago.  If you do not feel comfortable in giving out bank information that is understandable.  But you are safe in doing so, they can put in, not take out of account. (That is the fastest way)  Having said that, do you have a palpay account? (takes a week) or Have them courier a draft or other form of paper funds in the amount of sale price.  But would wait a few weeks on the funds to clear before releasing car.  Just a couple suggestions, there are more ways but these would work.
Cheers

Thanks.
I've put the feelers out on it on a couple of websites and replied to a fellow looking for a 59 Dodge. We'll see. One of the cars has to go.

Selling overseas? Isn't that when they send you a cheque for a few thou more than you are asking and then you send them a cheque back for the overpayment. I can't quite remember how it works but I think it can be a pretty good deal.

Hi Todd,  My wife is an Operations Manager at a bank and this is what she says:

Wire transfer is the only way to go. Open up another account just for that transaction.  That way you arent giving someone you dont know well your main banking information.

If you do a bank draft your bank will either put a 25 day hold on it (which doesnt protect you from it being fraudulent as that can come back years later) or send it on Collection which has fees (like $100 or more) and takes quite alot of time) or put it directly in your account and again doesnt protect you if its fraudulent.

Seriously a wire is the safest way.

Or, better yet, Todd could just give me this car, I'd take really good care of it; even would let him come and visit her and take her for a drive whenever he wanted! I think that's a heck of an offer don't you fellas? LOL! Sorry to hear yer gettin' rid of her Todd. She sure is a rare beaut!
