Lung cancer, diagnosed too far to treat he chose to spend his last 6 weeks at home and had some quality time with home care coming in almost every day. We went for a good drive in the Grand Parisienne on a nice day two weeks ago, and he enjoyed that greatly. Friday he was admitted to the hospital where for his last hours he was pretty heavily sedated with morphine. He went away with 3 final deep breaths at 7:35pm without a big struggle, and is now in a better place free of any suffering.
I should note that my father smoked as much as two packs a day from the time he arrived from Scotland in '57 untill quitting 8 years ago. No proof this caused this hideously fast moving cancer, but it's probably a good bet it did.
Mark.

Also sorry to hear that Mark. My condolences to you and your family. As you said at least his suffering is over but it is tough for you that are left behind.
My condolences Mark, my Father passed away on February 8th, just 15 months after my mother. My father was 86 however and he smoked his entire life so you never know.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss Mark. As I am without my parents, I have an idea of that hole it leaves in your life that nobody else can fill. I sure hope you have lots of good memories of him to put a smile on your face.

I know that my days with my dad are numbered. I'm sorry for your loss. I decided to give my dad the 65 SD 4spd this year, he's 65. I hope he runs the pants off of it and enjoys the time we have together that we still have. He bought a 65 L-79 SD 4 spd beaumont brand new in 65.
Mark, sorry to hear! As with alot of members on here, I too am parentless... My Dad 5 years ago age 69 and my Mom 7 years ago age 64. I sure know how you feel and will be feeling in the future. Both of mine went to cancer but as you stated, I sure they are in a much much better and pain free place........
Sorry to hear of your loss Mark. My mom died at 61 from smoking but my dad is still with us. Being a smoker it is times like this when I sit and shake my head how can we do this to ourselves.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Mark. I lost my Dad in 88 and it still seems like yesterday. Keep the good memories on top ! I lost my Aunt yesterday in Abbotsford, she died of a massive stroke at age 56. I still can't believe she's gone...
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad at the age of 54. Non-smoker, but like his beer. Massive heart attack. Sounds like your family had a nice few weeks to say goodbye though. Still sucks, as anything under the age of 90 is too damn young.
sorry to hear of your loss, i wish you God's blessings and that he will provide the confort you need. I know he will, as my sister (aged 45) just died 2 weeks ago from cancer as well and we have been greatly comforted.
