You can email the guy where I am getting mine from (see other thread) and ask himn about what exactly is on any given plate ... he was friendly and helpful when I was asking about 1956 Florida (he even knew the correct color). He does mention that he cannot display how they really will look on evilbay due to their stupid rules ... so maybe the incorrect appearance you are seeing with the star of david is due to similar constraints?
If you want to register it, check province rules - U.S. states vary, Florida allows it but is very restrictive. Aluminum repro plates (like the guy you discovered) won't be accepted here.

Good point re the "rules". (It reminds me of a little bit of trivia that my father used to mention. That being that the map companies used to print them with at least one known error, usually the name of a small town, in order to catch those that duplicated them.) I'll look closer at the site, but are the ones that you are getting metal or plastic? thx again.

It's a little vague about what they are made of, but certainly not metal. Here's what he says:
"The novelty plate is a digital image printed and bonded to a composite backing and sealed in industrial grade UV resistant plastic laminate which protects the image from scratches. It is not metal, styrene or PVC plastic but it is strong and flexible."

They look ok (other than the 1967 Alta plates having the Star of David instead of the centenial emblem LOL.)

Yeah, the $80 ones seem to be aluminum. The $20 ones don't seem to be. I look forward to hearing how Dave's are once they arrive. Considering the price difference and the minimal amounts of time they are exposed to the elements, the $20 ones might be the way to go...
