A friend is in need of a rebuildable carb. Please PM if you have one available or know where one may be. Carb is for a 1964 Canadian Pontiac with 340 HP engine.
Here is a photo of the engine this carb is for. The one on there leaks badly and numbers check it out to a 401 Nailhead Buick, correct era and carb type but not numbers match. Probably changed out on exchange at some point in the past 46 years.
be carfull , although technically the 4gc low siluet carb is 409 bound cadilac buick olds used a similar carb, note similar, not the same i almost got stung with one being passed off as the proper carb. the throat diameter and the base plate are chevy only external they look similar
if you need any do,s and donts on 09s have learned the hard way might save you some agrivation and money give me a shout

Well we have a Buick one on the engine already and it runs but leaks. The throttle linkage is different on the Chevrolet that's one way to tell. Most of the tags are long gone and there is no casting number on the body.
this is the one off my 65 the numbers represent the different jettings in the carbs i modify these esentially they are the same from year to year.I also took a picture of the 09 base plate and a COB base you can see the difference -- Edited by 65wagon on Friday 2nd of April 2010 11:41:52 PM

you really have to watch yourself when dealling with 09s to many sneaky individuals, by the by got a new digital never thought i would like it over my 35 mil but its great for this stuff . when you get a chance check your block numbers to see what it is, 46 years things tend to get moved around
