Block #3970010 is a 350 block used from 69 to 79. Can have 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains. It is possible to put a large journal 327 crank in it to make a 327 but it started life as a 350. I have two of these blocks.

So you mean they used a different casting number for a large journal 327?  I wonder why, other than maybe identification purposes.

This is a late april or may of 69 block. I am not sure if 327 production was still  going that late in the year but maybe.
