Grab the switches Elroy if they look decent. Those are starting to be tougher to find.

1970 was the first year the Executive was available in Canada. Being a US model it came standard with the Pontiac 400. Nameplate only offered in Canada for 2 model years I believe.

I didn't think the Executive was available in Canada in 70, but I've seen them in the US.  The interior trim is the same as a Parisienne.

Yes it was. See below the photos of the 1970 GM Canada Pontiac Brochure. Executive had 290 HP 400 as standard V8. It was below Bonneville and ahead of Catalina which came with a 350 V8. Canadian buyers had their choice of 6 big Pontiacs in 1970.

Interesting that this brochure titled PONTIAC 1970 includes the Acadian, you can see the SS wheel on the cover.

Say Clint do you want a copy of this brochure? I have a good colour copier and can send you one if you want.

I agree Mark, I keep finding myself looking back at that boneyard photo and picturing that car new.

Seems I made an error, there were actually 7 full sized Pontiac models available in 1970 to the Canadian Buyer. How could I hav eforgetten this one....

I've got a couple copies, that's the smaller brochure that has both the US & Cdn Pontiac's in it.

that smaller brochure is about the size of an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.   The Canadian only brochure is larger size, as well as the US only brochure.

I don't ever recall seeing a 70 Executive here in Canada, we had scads of Catalina's and a sprinkling of Bonnevilles.  I know the Catalina's were made at the Ste. Therese plant by Montreal, not sure about the Bonnevilles.   I also knew of a 70 Ventura that came from the Ste. Therese plant.

Our neighbour bought a 70 Bonneville from Hogan's in Toronto, it was the same colour as your hard top 2+2 Clint with brown vinyl roof, 4 dr hardtop. I remeber the day he drove that car home, it had the 455 emblems on the fender and the duals hanging off the rear bumper and it throbbed. He has PMD wire wheels on twin white stripes. I fell in love with that car and swore I'd own a Bonneville one day. 22 years later I did.

My brochure is certainly not small it is easily 17" x 11" when viewing those photos I posted. But I quess it is the smaller one reading your description. It lists the Ventura interior option as being available on Catalinas.

I am going to suggest that seeing that Executive and Bonnevilee rode on the same wheel base they came form US plants.

Looking at the bell housing on the tranny , it did look like a Pontiac block bolt pattern.

I do not recall any Executives when I was living in Toronto in the '70s. Lots of Catalinas. The odd Bonneville.

It must have been confusing as heck having both the Canadian line and American line of Pontiacs on the showroom floor at a Canadian Pontiac-Buick dealer at this time for both the salespeople and the customers.

The more I am on this site, the more I learn. Thanks guys!

I had a 1970 Pontiac Executive 4 dr hardtop with a 400 back in 1985 when I was 19. I bought it off my cousin who used it for school he was from St Thomas, Ontario. He got it from a old man from St Thomas who brought it new.
