cry  Power steering box from a 1965 Malibu - bolt in for a Chevelle or Beaumont aww  replace that worn out manual box biggrin  - price is $50.00 - confuse   located in Saskatoon, Sask. wink

I would have guessed yes but I checked my Hollander interchange to make sure and it says yes, same box. However, you will need a power steering pitman arm for a full size car to install it on the Parisienne. I checked the parts book for that and it says 67 or 68 Parisienne or Caprice/Impala power steering pitman arm required.

Yes it should fit as long as you include the appropriate pitman arm on it.

The arms from the A and B bodies do not appear to interchange. Also, the B bodies at least have differences depending on the year. I checked for the 67 and it said 67-68 only.

Do you need info on the 65 Malibu pitman arm interchange?

71 - 80 A & B body boxes are also a good substitute, and if they came from F41 cars, also have a more favorable ratio and better road feel than the early boxes. I just bought a steering box from a mid-70s Camaro that I'm putting in my 68 Caprice.

You can also use the later boxes form the 80's with the metric "o" ring fittings but many of them have 3 bolts vs. 4, and I have found it difficult to get adapters to connect the SAE fittings on the factory PS hoses to the metric fittings in the box (if anyone knows a source I'd welcome the info).

Ok, it gets a bit interesting so I hope I explain it right.

The pitman arm for power steering fits from a number of 64-67 A body cars (Chevelle, Cutlass, Lemans, Skylark) but not all of them.

The steering centre link ( GM calls it a steering relay rod, or a drag link to some) came in 2 sizes 64-67, the choices being 7/8" or 13/16" diameter. You have to match your pitman arm to whatever size drag link you are using.

So as long as it's a 64-67 A body and has the right size drag link to match the arm, you should be home free.

GM part number for 13/16" link is 5679209

GM part number for   7/8"   link is 5693764


Clear as mud???

Boy, I wish I could say I've worked on it in the last 2 weeks........

I have to take it to either my brother's shop or my workplace to get it on a hoist and do some "tweaks" on the exhaust my brother bent up for me.

Then I hope to put a few miles on it and see if I can get to the bottom of the noise I heard. I am convinced the alleged bottom end noise was it fighting against itself because I had the idle too low but the lifter noise will have to be addressed.
