We all knew when Labatt bought Lake Port brewery in Hamilton it was the end of buck a beer. Labatt just close the plant putting 143 works out of a job. Labatt claimed is was not making enough profit and want to move production to a London plant even know the original owners made millions. 3 other brewers have stepped up wanting to buy the machinery but Labatt has said no. Teamsters want people to boycott all Labatt beers. Hamilton coun. Bob Bratina stated that Moving Production to the London plant would result in a poor tasting beer because Londons water is not as good as Hamiltons. The Mayor of London has fired back and the war is ON. Todd, if this thing gets ungly, you may have to banned all Hamilton members. lol
Guess I'll be switching beer!!! I liked the LakePort Lager & the price was right, knew as soon as Labbatt's took over that lakeport was history!!! If the competition is hurting you, BUY THEM, no more competition!!!! I used to deliver to Lakeport yrs ago [cardboard pkging] the guys there were great at unloading the trailer, & would talk to you, also did the same at Labbatt's in Toronto [gone now] & London, most miserable SOB's I've ever met, keep you waiting for hours, then take another 2 hrs. to unload you, [didn't think a forklift went that slow] OK Guys & Girls suggest a new beer???

I quit buying ANY Labatt product two weeks ago to support the cause.Just like I quit buying Blue yrs ago when they took the Maple Leaf off the labels in Quebec?
OK guys. This is as near as I come to a confessional. I've just had 2 pints of proper English bitter and some red wine. I've had the good fortune to spend time in many U.S. and Australian states (but so far none in the birthplace of my favorite car) but I'm amazed that hardly anywhere can you get a proper pint of beer as opposed to lager - which I consider to be far too European - or have I been missing subtle tastes in the lager for the last forty years?
I guess this includes me in the "real old guy" category but I remember when you could go into a tavern and get a glass of beer (OK it was probably only 6 ounces) for a NICKEL. Yes that is 5 cents. Cold draft beer. At the bar. Served with a smile. Ahhh.
But I am sorry to hear that corporate greed has once again won out over the good life as we knew it.

i loved lakeport also. I drive by labatt everyday to go pick up the wife from work and i have never went in. Now that lakeport is gone im back to my more expensive tastes such as red stripe or heineken. I do drink alot of Sol or corona in the summer though. When i move to mexico the beer is REAL cheap and you can drink it wherever you want. I love beer.

We were in Mexico over the Christmas Holidays. Every shop has a big cooler full of $1 beer. Walk to the next shop drinking your beer and grab another one. Didn`t mine shopping with the wife one bit.
thats what we did!! dont need a cooler or have to buy ice!! Where abouts in mexico were you?
Cozumel, we arrived New Years morning with a hang over. After some hair of the dog that bit us, we had a great day, Ended up at a Ruby Tuesday to cap the day off.
I'm allergic to beer so doesn't really affect me. ( my wife on the other hand....) I drink vodka. Long live the pollacks!!! ( I'm one so nobody get all mad again ok?!)
