My pontiac started without any problem after sitting all winter. However after I drove her home I tried to restart her and got nothing. for a kick I put it in neutral and she started right up. Now I didnt' see any signs of mice in the car but I'm worried perhaps a mouse chewed a wire and perhaps it broke when I put the car into gear. Where is the neutral safety switch located? Fingers crossed it's just the switch and nothing more....
Yup... Over the columm. Usually purple and a purple/white wire. Maybe the switch went out of adjustment. I usually put the shifter all the way to low and then back op to park. This usually resets and or cleans the terminals. They may have arced when you tried to restart in park and lost contact........
Did you try pulling it up a bit farther into park and then hitting the key?
It sure sounds like a switch adjustment issue Todd.
From my own experience I would say it is rare that the switch would have a bad spot in park but not neutral, as far as connections go. I remember lots of people in the old Fords having to pull it farther into park to start.
