74 Toro, 50,000 miles, $3900, Winnipeg

I know nothing about this seller or this car.

By coincidence though, a customer of ours has the same car (except light green), same mileage, original owner car and has asked me what it's worth. I have given him a higher figure than the asking price on this car.

To me, someone who wants a unique, low mile toy should buy this car!

I agree with you Carl, looks like a really decent car for the price.  Last year before cats too.

Close to 20 years ago I had to road test the twin to this car that our customer has. Tons of torque. Now THAT is a front wheel drive car I could live with!

And to top it off, this same customer of our's has a son in law who is the original owner of a 72 GTO 400 4 speed car, red, black vinyl top and black guts, needing restoration.

And he won't sell it to me.....................

I had a '69 Toro and loved it!!!
After I wacked a tree w/ it I put the 375 HP 455 in my '69 442 Post car..

Cool deal but unless he's talkin' a modified engine, the ad is off by about 100 HP..
Still lots o' torque in these later year 455's but especially after they went to SAE net HP about '71 there's no way they were pumping 350 factory HP for '74..

From Wiki, it's the old Gross Vs. Net argument again:

The '71 Toronado's 455 cubic-inch V8 was rated at 350 horsepower (down from 375 in 1970) with a compression ratio of 8.5 to 1 (down from 10.5 to 1 in 1970).

For 1972, the advertised horsepower rating for the 455 engine dropped to 250 thanks to a switch in power measurements from the gross ratings in which power was measured by a dynometer with no accessories attached to "net" ratings which were measured as installed in a vehicle with all accessories and emissions equipment attached.

It is pretty much common knowledge that the difference in a '71 and '72 is basically nothing so I'm willing to cut him some slack on quoting the Gross rating - good marketing.

FWD on those things meant a totally flat floor from door sill to door sill. Those things were about 5000 lbs. and it was hard to tell you were actually driving a front wheel drive car. It looks to be a nice example of a 74 (I'm sure it's very thirsty being a 455, a Toronado and a 1974!).

As mentioned, the first modern car to use high mounted auxilliary brake lights (71 vs 86).
