Looking for a daily driver convertible under 10k

My wife wants to sell her 05 Matrix and buy a convertible. Our budget is 10k (or less). Must be solid, reliable, automatic and seat 4. If you guys know of a good one, please let me know.

P.S Also, if you know anyone looking for a decent car, our Matrix has 72k, new tires two weeks ago ($750), loaded including sunroof. Also has winter tires on rims. $11000 cert, etested.

Thanks

 Todd

Would this qualify as a daily driver? biggrin I know, it's not a Canadian poncho, but it can be your American cousin!

We will be taking our 1989 Mustang LX out of storage in a week or two.. We bought it 5 years ago from the first owner, when we were on vacation in California.  Used it down there and when we returned to Canada had it shipped home here to Calgary.
It is a 5.0 liter, automatic, white exterior, white roof, grey leather interior & fully equipped. Car is in miles per hour and it has 56,400 miles.  not winter driven, all original. Car runs & looks great. The only thing we changed on the car was the exhaust, for a deeper tone.  The gentleman I bought it from was in his mid 60's and I am the same.  So adult owners.  If this is of any interest please pm myself.
Cheers

Tell her to keep the station wagon and heres a nice cheap toy for the summer

its my cousin's he bought it for his daughter but the convertible top leaks at the cowl and she is well the doctor's daughter !

1998 Pontiac Sunfire convertible, 4 cyl auto, has all the GT options, 151,ooo kms, new tires, it'll need a brake job to certify-this car came from out of province when it was new-branded rebuilt-I am told it was a theft recovery -A bodyshop owner's daughter had it from almost new then his sister before my cousin last year-its a good cheap affordable ragtop-I posted it fore him at $2750 (thinking someone would have a nice car at $3000) to net $2500 if I tell him to take $2000 as is he will

Todd, this is a nice car, keeps you in the good books with your Bosses too. I always thought of these as a ladies car too. Maybe Connie would like this.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Remember, this is a car that will see winter (although not a lot of Km's) so classics are out of the question. Ken, I'll show her the Sunfire. A friend of her's has a Sebring and she seems to like those cars. I talked to a friend who is Service Manager at a Chrysler dealer and he said to stay away from any Sebring with the Mitsubishi V6 as parts are pricey (800 bucks for a distributor- a common failure for example). The 2.7's seem to hold up ok on these cars even though they have sludge problems in the Intrepids. There's my co workers 95 Mustang GT with 16000 orig KM however this car is almost too nice to expose to the elements. It has never seen rain.

As for the Matrix- it's never been smoked in. We've had it since it was about a month old. Connie's dad bought it and decided he was too old to drive! It's the XR model with the 17" wheels (Tiny- I paid 10% over cost- these are 55 series 17" -pricey!). Since I work at the dealer, this car didn't go without any part or update!
I know I will miss the car as it will haul a pile of stuff. The front and middle seats fold down. I've hauled everything from 8' pieced of lumber to a snowblower! I'll have to buy a utility trailer if we sell it!

It's kind of a silver blue like this:

EM-AG987_SKY_To_G_20091206180904.jpg

I'll have to take some photos.

Todd

The 2.7's are a problem-make sure oil has been changed regularly, there is an 02 or 04 down the street from me @ $5800 nice car.

I've had a sebring for 10 years... no problems, cheap to maintain and it fit golf clubs in the trunk! I had the 2.5 v6 ran great with no issues other than being underpowered... the 2.7 has the sludge issue, as long was oil changes are performed regularly you should be good to go!

ak

p.s. perhaps you didnt mention 'convertible' to your friend at chrysler, only the hardtops in the first generation were mitsibushi, the convertibles were on the stratus platform and the motors are rock solid!

When I rent cars, I aways try a different brand.
I rented a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer a week ago ... what a rough riding car (on a smooth highway)! I didn't like it. The deacceleration was strange too, felt like I was riding the parking brake ... once I took my foot of the gas it would stop rolling. It was great in traffic, didn't have to hit the brakes too often.
I thought the last car I rented (Dodge Avenger) was a crappy car.
My wife has a 2002 Camry, a great car by comparison.

There was a white ragtop on Kijiji. I asked the seller what motor it had and he replied 2.5 V6.

Nice! I'd like that one for me! This car is going to be a year round driver for my wife. She wants something like a Mustang, Sebring, Solara etc.
