i finally thought it through


well guys  i finally got into the car and really saw what i was looking forward to and its gonna take me 5 plus years to get this thing back on the road and insurence would kill me soo fast. so ive decided to get a 4 door sedan with a 6 cyl just to pass me over and insurence won't be sooo bad im a little disheartend right now =(

But im not giving up she will see the road again

Good for you...    get some wheels and experience, hang in there   Alot of projescts are long term   We all get disheartened at times   Find a nice litlle used Pontiac to remind you of the brand

That sounds like a better plan. A body -off is a HUGE project!

Agreed, I think you've made a very sensible decision. A first classic car likely shouldn't be a body off or you will get discouraged.

He is right!!!!!  I  have been at that point with mine, but I am past the no return stage now.  I will finish my car, but my daughter (7yrs old) will probably be driving it...lol

I think you are making the right choice. A frame up body off resto is a long,costly and very frustrating experience and seldom provides the result you expected and cost triple of all your estimates. Get yourself a cheap dependable daily driver, sell your Parisienne and then look for a old car that is in better shape. It is less expensive to pay more up front even if you need a loan than to do a body off. I have done a few cars and realized too late that I couldn't afford to finish them in terms of money, time, or ambition. All of them turned out to be serious money losers.

i am still keeping the car the body is going on a body dolly and going to  one of those rent a storage place like the 10$ a month deal the engine and sheet metal are going to my grandmothers garage till i can build a better bigger shed  and finally the old frame is going to the metal shop where i will redoing the whole thing  btw anyone know of a good 4 door car i can get for very little that needs very little

again she will see the road again if i die trying

Jonathon, good move!!! you & Mike [with Buick Riv] both saw the light!! Without a "proper" garage, trying to a "body off" in your d/way just won't do it, + you need alot more equipment than what I think you have there to work with. If you can store the car,fine, if not I'd part it out or just strip it & store the parts you want to keep & look for a better 69 Poncho later on & use your parts on it. A BODY OFF is a huge project & not what you want to get into on your 1st attempt at a collectable car???
