i have the lincpln 180 welder and it has lasted about 6 years now woth no troubles and it still works great. It has done ALOT of work. That looks like cambodian tires biggest 110 welder,if you have issues with 220 i would buy that welder on sale in a heartbeat. We use the smaller versions at work on the field they get really beat up and they still work, although they always have flux core wire in them. Those lincolns are great welders.

If you are just planning to do some body repair , that little Lincoln should do you nicely..and if you have any problems with if just take it back to Can Tire.. One Word (Warranty). Use a 3 gas mix for mig welding sheet metal, I find it works better than argon

As with buying an old car, buy the best you can afford. I have a Hobart 220V. It's a fantastic welder and very beginner friendly. Try to buy one with both variable amp and feed settings, not one with 4 of 5 settings each. Don't do what I did for so long and try to make do with flux core wire. Buy the gas! TSC is one place that sells gas.

Thats a great welder .I have had the precurser, the mig pak 100,for15 years now and it still works like new, never had an issue.I welded numerous rollcages and all kinds of stuff.Only thing is it wont weld over 3/16 I believe. If you get the gasless flux wire it burns deeper, into a little thicker material.

I was wondering for the welders, can they work in the garage with the normal plug/outlet or do you need to rewire for a higher outlet?

They will work fine on a 30amp breaker, provided it is not loaded up.  I have one plug in the garage strictly for the grinder or welder, nothing else on that circuit.

65 Camino-I would agree with Todd...... unless you are welding thicker metal all the time, use the gas.  I have burnt more holes than you could imagine with the fluxcore!!!  My welder is a little older, works just fine for me.....

The smaller hobby type welders are normally 110 volt, and will work fine using the outlet.

do not use flux core wire for autobody...the flux will react with the bondo/topcoats and bleed through.....not good

I have the 180 works great, but don't buy from Canadian tire, get it from Home depot, they will meet and beat the price and never any issues on returning it Cannibal tire usually sends this kind of stuff out for repair, home depot just gives you another NO questions asked EVER

I have one and it works well It runs much nicer with gas running as a MIG. If you want to use it in GMAW, or flux cored welding its good to but alot hotter for thiner metal and this will lead to more chance of warping your sheetmetal, and or blowing a hole in your metal. But Its a nice welder, if you have the 220 230volt plug ready in your shop go up one model and get a 180! The 180 runs just that much nicer on 220.
