I've heard that some car dealers used to put saw dust in a noisy rear-end back in the day.,,, to keep them quiet ,..... until the car was off the lot wink.gif


This guy I knew was selling a '77 Cutlass Supreme with a tranny whine, so he poured rotortiller tyne gear oil (it's like molasses) down the tranny tube. No more whine ... but probably a gummed up tranny.

Watching American Hot Rod a few years ago they got a new guy to fall for that.  Tried to get the rattle to stop in more than one can if i remember right.
