If your car has a rear-end whine, put bananas in there and it will go away . Not sure if it works, I keep eating the bananas first ! lol... this would be an ugly job besides ....
I've heard that some car dealers used to put saw dust in a noisy rear-end back in the day.,,, to keep them quiet ,..... until the car was off the lot
This guy I knew was selling a '77 Cutlass Supreme with a tranny whine, so he poured rotortiller tyne gear oil (it's like molasses) down the tranny tube. No more whine ... but probably a gummed up tranny.

The shop I worked at quite a few years ago hired a "helper" one of my co workers had him clean and paint some engine parts. He was told prior to painting he had to shake the can until the ball stops rattling to make sure the paint was mixed properly......He fell for it.
Watching American Hot Rod a few years ago they got a new guy to fall for that. Tried to get the rattle to stop in more than one can if i remember right.
