Hey all, getting closer to getting the 54 back together. What i could use are some good pics of how the thrpttle linkages all fit together. There is one down by the starter where the rod from the gas pedal hooks into, just not sure what hole it fits into.Second is the middle one on the side of the block.Thereis a spring from the block that hooks in somewhere as well as the rod.I have a couple of what looks like throttle return springs left over. Finally there is a small 1/8th steel line that comes up fom the p.s rear part of the engine compartment,it has a small brass fitting on it but not sure quite where it goes to.Other than that got all the lines figures out thanks to all that posted pics.
ok i figured out the one by the starter solenoid and found that spring, had some issues locateing the hole on the firewall but found it eventually. Now i have a second spring that runs from the block to somewhere.the one end is broken off but i think i can just stretch it out a bit and rebend that end. There is a notch on the inside of that bracket, towards the engine, that looks like that where it may go.Roliks only seems to show one spring. My other question is on the bracket that is below the starter, rod comes from the tranny, there are 2 possible holes for it to go into, one lower, one about an inch higher.I don`t have the starter in yet so that may answer my question when i put it in it may only fit in one hole.Anyways i attached a few pics, you can see the extra spring i seem to have from the block.I had it attached temporarily but there is the groove on the inner part of the same bracket,i think it may go there. The top spring in the pic turned out to be the one from the rod to the firewall, not sure what the other 2 are for yet, possibly the hood latch. The rod is the one from the gas pedal as i suspected.piece by piece its coming along.I think a big part of the paycheque will go to chevs of the 40`s for a bunch of little parts this month.I still have to drop the gas tank and check it and of course it has no key for the cap so i`ll have to drill it off. Then get a key cut for the ignition as soon as i can get it out and to the locksmith.New plugs and wires, get the rad checked, check the brakes, figure out how the e-brake cables hook up by the trans, hook up the torque tube and figure out the 2 felt seals, lots to do yet.
