why do people make such bad choices when fixing classic cars? OK i was sitting in the rain trying to get my drivers side fender off take the bolts on the top out then i move to the bottem can't find any bolts like the ones on the passanger side i look down to the lower fender guess what i find a weld i was like @#!%^$#!@#$%$#@!. turns out the guy did not prep the area i broke the weld with a screw driver and a hammer in 2 swings so the wheel well needs to be replaced adding to my list of parts.... seems to be getting bigger
It's that one bolt at the bottom of the front fender, behind the wheel well. That one is always a pain.
I bet you found the original bolt corroded and broken off in the tack-welded nut, the nut is stripped or the tack weld broke so the bolt could not be tightened.
If memory serves me, that's one of the bolts you have to remove to change the heater core - and I think I've managed to get it off without breaking the bolt on one side of one car after pulling the front clips off dozens of Chevs.
if its any thing like my sons 67 camaro that bottom bolt goes into a J nut that can be replaced and a new bolt put in. Just looked at my Beaumont and also has a J nut that just slides over the hole. Unless the metal on your fender is rusted off were the bolt goes threw.
I see you were sitting in the rain working on your car, your a true car guy Jonathan. Make sure you post a pic when you start lifting the body off. Love to see that.

Keep at it Jonathan. You're just experiencing/learning what most of us older guys already know. Believe me we had to learn the hard way, also. It will all be worth it in the end.
