RE: 1962 Acadian Beaumont Deluxe

WOW...this is cool info!.
I haven't looked at them in years but I have a GM package w/ all the brochures of the Canadian '62 models..
Pretty sure they're all an early release and included is two of the fold out Acadian brochures...I'll have to see if the Deluxe is included or not?!
The GM docs will be an interesting read...especially if they include production by the model!.

First off, WOW!  This thing must be very rare!  Cool car.

I read about the Deluxe from a brochure I bought (dated Feb 28 '62) a while back but thought they canned the Deluxe before hitting production.

Here's my brochure with some writing on the Beaumont Deluxe

And my 62-65 Acadian and Beaumont parts catalogue has 8441 listed which means it must of existed.
I know the model #'s aren't completely correct for the '62-'63's.
They lumped '62-'63 together but there were some more differences between model #'s in '62 and '63.

If you look at our Acadian registry, there's only 1 other '62 2 dr sedan which is a XX11.
So I'm betting all other '62 Acadian 2 dr sedan's out there are xx11 so
this car's 8441 must of designated Beaumont Deluxe before it was dropped.

Sorry for the rambling.  Once again this thing must be very rare.

Even though I only own 2, that's some bragging rights that I have half of them :)

Yeah, '62 production was pretty close to '63 but there's definatly alot more '63s still out there.
Also, I remember reading something about either the acadian or nova coupes not being produced for the first half of '64
as GM didn't want them to hurt the new Chevelle coupe sales. That could have brought the total #'s down.

It has the two tone steering wheel just like it says in the brochure. Did any other 62 models come with the two tone wheel ? What do the deluxe door handles look like ?

The handles have a space in the middle,not solid handles.

Interesting. That's not a low VIN so the thoughts of it being an early model and then discontinued are all out the window!

Hmmmm......

I'm thinking it was introduced mid-season.  Because my early parts book makes no mention of it.

Sort of like a 1964 327's in beaumonts.  introduced in late march in a-bodys.

I'd suggest getting the GM Vintage Service documentation on this car. We'd all love to know the production totals on this car and where it was originally sold from. You may have the only one still in existence!

2 = 1962

8441 = 6cyl 2 door sedan Beaumont Deluxe (we're assuming as 8411 = 6cyl 2 door sedan Beaumont)

06605 = vehicle number (of 14,654 produced in '62)

So, my red car was produced Dec. 4th 1961 and which was roughly 4000 cars before this car.

Doing some really rough math I'd guess your car was made late Feb '62.

You should definatetly send your info to GM to have it documented!

We all want to see what they will say about an 8441 series.
