RE: How Rare are the 65 L79 Beaumonts

so i basically don't have a 302 but i could of if i bored it another 10 over? so 50 over would have made a 302? I think I understand yea.... I figure the car will put out between 275 and 325 hp much better then the stock 205 hp i think it was...

6 cubic inches won't give you 120 HP no I suspect some other modification have been built in.

To get to a 302 the bore would have to be 125 not 50 over. 50 over would be 290, 60 over would be 292, its minimal.

I figure to get that extra hp i put headers on long ones, edelbrock rpm something, 4 barrel carb of course rochester, exhaust i put on a while ago but is 2 1/4 pipe duals, 1 1/2 core aluminum rad, took the manual fan off and went with a full electric system for fan, sti distributor. never had powersteering so i would think i would gain a few horses there, brand new motor not even 10 feet traveled yet lol and its 40 over.. sounds good when i run it in my garage.

It may be a bit dusty but it looks darn good.

The most powerful 283 4bbl with dual exhausts offered by Pontiac was rated at 230 HP, the fuelie was rated at 250 HP. You will have a good strong motor there.

You need a good set of  forged hi comp. pistons, 2.02 heads or even better aluminum Corvette style heads, match them up with the right cam & lifters as well as headers will give you the power you want.

i think for the most part i just want a cruiser and that will chirp the tires and not burn a hole in my wallet....i have been to Gimli a total of 0 times now so racing is not that big of a deal to me. The days of racing light to light are long gone... ;)

i guess 325 hp might be a little high as an estimate, i just took the word of the speed shop that i purchased all the extras from that what they figured it would be in around that area for hp. From what you guys are saying my car would be closer to the 275 hp or lower by the sounds of it... But still lots of power for myself...

it was pretty quick when the motor was half blown i could give those 5.0L GUYS a run for the money once my powerglide kicked passed the 30 mph mark, then she would really pull.... this is going years back but it was pretty quick. I seemed to be obsessed with my 0-60 mph speeds and i think the fastest i ever recorded was 0-60 in 7.2 sec's which for my car was really good... more consistent was around 8 sec mark... agoain only 0-60 mph that's it.

You can add the 1969 Firebird Trans Am Converible to your list of rare GM  (pontiac) cars.  They only made 8 of them   (4) 4 speeds  and (4) TH400 Auto   Only 7 are known to exist.  Recently one was up for auction with a reserve price of  1.5 million USD

And yet another rare GM Pontiac car  is the   1962  Grand Prix with the 421 Super Duty Engine.  They only made 16  of them  and currently there is only one known to survive

Ah, ok. I took that to mean time to do conversions.

Interesting...

If you recall last year we had a very informed poster leave us a cryptric trail on these 302 Firebirds, confirming their existence. Based on information posted we postulated that the conversions were done by the Oshawa CKD shop then shipped into specific race friendly dealerships across Canada.

I have an ad from Conroy advertsing them  for sale, it is a bad photo copy and  scans even worse unfortunately.

Has anybody seen a 65 Beaumont SD Cheetah? Is the any early photos of the dealership or any authority on these cars to verify the details of such a car? It seams if you have a car ordered with all the Cheetah specs and the mirrors you have one? Any ideas?

A 302 in a 65 SD beaumont? I am trying to source some info with no luck. Do you think they would have copied a Z-16 in a 65 Beaumont with a L-78 396?
