Hey where are these '73's coming from Fred, first the 442 now this?

This sure looks like a really nice car, well equipped for sure.

To Carl's question, Is it a real GTO?

GTO was an option on the 73 LeMans Sport Coupe and LeMans 2dr Colonade hardtop. The VIN will not tell you the authenticity of a GTO  or not. You need documents from GM Vintage Services for that.

Being one of only a handful of "73 guys on Board with a bit of knowledge I can state with 99.9 % certainty that this car is NOT a factory GTO optioned LeMans Sport.

There are a couple of giveaways, grille would say GTO not Pontiac 400, interior door emblems would say GTO with black background, NOT Sport Coupe with red background. Given the limited production these things are nearly impossible to find. Those mamouth bumper guards could be ordered on any LeMans and many GTO's were ordered with them as part of the Protection Group.

GTO got 400 4bbl, duals with chrome extensions, heavy duty 3 speed, NASA type dual sccop hood, 15" steel wheels with moon hub caps, front and rear sway bar, GTO identication on interior doors, grille deck lid and front fenders. Other than that it was just like any other LeMans/Lemans Sport and all options were available.

The fact that this car has a 400 makes it an ideal and almost identical trbute car. This should not take away from it though, it appears solid and has the same engine as the GTO would have had anyway. I like it.

Anyone know where this car ended up? I had a Desert Sand LeMans SC built in Oshawa (the remains are in my backyard). I would be interested in finding out about it.

There was one posted on the A-Body site, but emails to the owner were never returned. It's listed under Reader's Rides at http://www.abodysite.com/frameentry.html

Look for Laurie Fielding's 1973 Pontiac LeMans sport coupe. Car is supposedly in Saskatoon.

Do like that Desert Sand colour a lot. Chamois interior is nice too.

The Kijij one has been up for a while and is the subject of a previous CP thread.

Here's a shot of mine from 1979 and 1980 with my honey on Daytona Beach. Miss it, but the Florentine Red '73 GT I just bought is almost identical to my old Desert Sand car.

Love the old photos Bill!

Yes Pascal, I did point it out above that it is not a factory GTO option LeMans Sport.

Back 6 or 7 years ago I tried getting in touch with the owner in Saskatoon (email link was in the A-Body Site Reader's Rides) asking her to let me know if she ever wanted to sell the car. I never got a response.

Is this car still for sale or does it have a happy home? Anybody know the current owner?

It is a nice clean car but I have to agree the colour's don't work for me. I was going to look at a '73 Grand Am and I didn't ask what colour it was ( I'm the dummy ) and it was this colour, I just kept on driving! Then again some people would just love this colour, if we all liked the same thing it would be a pretty dull world!!

Yup...Laurie's car is indeed in Saskatoon. At least it was a few years ago when I was parked beside her on 2nd Avenue at the Super Run. Her car was absolutely gorgeous...if I remember correctly she told me she painted it herself! Nice car.. cool lady.
