RE: Project 67Beaumont

Yea my autobody buddy he was showing the me the mix of paint that it all goes in. They take almost 7 to 8 different colors to make this color pretty wild, there is a pearl efx its called but its not pearl. What it's suppose to do is bring out a clear chrome look, I also went with a shermin williams clear coat which was pretty expensive clear coat but man does it look good. In the dark it looks like Maroon when you bring it into the light explodes like almost a whine/maroon candy of some sorty... Pretty neat I decided I like the color so much that painting it all like that was a better plan. The two-tone was just an after thought and then it don't look original anymore... So I wanted to keep it a long those lines.

Interior next then a big stereo system... :)

On another note, it looks like you will have lots of time for your car this winter instead of the Arctic Cats in the background! And more money for your car instead of snowmobile gas! LOL

Man, that looks nice. I would think you are getting a little excited at this stage. I like your choice of staying with the one color.

Yes very its been a long haul and its nice to see things come to a finish. If I didn't have a bud who knows this stuff it would have never happen. Hats off to my buddy Tom!!! I helped as well but he put many hours into this car as a good friend.

I'll post some pics when its primed and painted, sounds like one more week!!!

Cheers

Beautiful progress pics. Going to be a very sharp looking car with all the Beaumont trim back on. Nice deep shine in that paint. Looks like great prep work to get to there.

swamper - fabulous metal work, on your '67 Beaumont restoration...That hardtop is dead nuts straight / and paint job, turned out very prestine....Congrats to your fine job and thanks for your amazing contribution, with written & photo documentation.

2 Questions:

- where did your panels come from (NOS or Repro. - front fenders/door shells/rear quarters) / manufacturer / any problems fitting the perfect gaps / pros-cons on sheet metal sourced ??

- pros-cons on not taking the rear quarter panels into the lead roof line (BTW - your method of installation is most intriguing / lap weld or butt weld, on the final fitment of the tunnel roof area ??

Question 1

All metal was ordered out of the states at a dodge distributor they mostly do dodge but they did do some chevelle stuff as well. So fenders, doors, quaters all came from that distributor.

I ordered the parts from Kevin at Penner Performance in Blumenort, he's a good guy to deal with.

Question 2

My buddy is 25 yrs in the business saids the 3M glue is industructible it will rip other metal before it rips.  Front and back end of 1/4 is spot welded the rest is glued.  I left this part in the hands of the guru ;)
