someone used it regular like a car through the winters etc.. for 23 years I guess.

the price is attractive-good entry level project but in the long run you'll probably be better off with a more expensive better quality car

The Regal had the same engine available.

When I bought my 86 SS new I was deciding between the GN and the Chevy, the Olds 442 of this era wasn't even close in terms of performance to either of these, Olds was using the 307 in them.

At the end of the day I opted for the Monte Carlo SS. They was no hiding the fact that the Buick was a Buick, two foot long speedometer, plush seats, sure it had a BA look and pretty good power but the Monte Carlo was well thought through, it had an great interior and dash layout, lots of go fast parts in the chassis and the L-69 is a one of the best Chevy engines, Hot Rod put it in the top ten Chevy perfomance engines. The Car delivered what it said it would. I never took a shine to the GN and never regretted buying the Monte Carlo SS.

I remember an 87 T Type coming in on trade at the Chevy store I worked at in 1989. It had 20k on it. A salesman and I went for a drive. It was one helluva fun ride! That turbo would surprise you! I had the car sideways after merging onto a highway. We laughed our asses off in that car. I remember him saying "accelerate slowly into second then punch it". I left a huge patch of rubber and we were laughing wildly. Good times!

Yes, they were noted for that second gear rubber.

A friend oif mine worked for GMAC back then as a dealer financing guy, they could order just about anything they wanted as a company car but right around that time they issued an exception list - Corvettes, Cadillacs and the "muscle cars". He decided he was going to get even with the powers that be and he zeroed in on a Regal Limited. He knew his stuff and he could do build orders at his desk. He decided to get every concievabale option he could put on that car. T-Type, 3.8 turbo, T roofs, air, power everything, two tone paint Black and gold, he even got what appeared as the same wheels as the GN only gold as I recall. It was actually nicer than any GN ever made, it was a real go fast Buick.

I remember them all at the back of GM dealers lots with the engines out ! Everyone blowing them up !

I really like the Monte Carlo SS--they are a great buy right now, I like the Olds a little more yet but for some reason they have been demanding more $
