really nice looking ride. To bad they didnt take the time to use the right rivets on the cowl tag.. makes it SO obvious with those "big boys".

Yes, that would indicate that he is not correct in saying that Conroy added the stripes. It appears they were on there from the factory.

the gold car was found in a wrecking yard, prior to being restored by its present owner. Original color , interior, etc. The guy that owns it is a perfectionist to say the least. Very nice guy and approachable, and very knowledgeable. The conroy fender tag had to be remade from an original that had been made into a belt buckle, a story on to its own! Original 396 with hi-perf heads, and I believe he said the trans had to be replaced by the factory when he destroyed the original (warranty claim back in the day). It was his daily driver, got sold and he found it and restored it.

Those rivets on the cowl tag are odd. Not sure why anyone would go to so much trouble then use those. If the car is legitimate, those rivets don't help.
The write-up says it's a 375HP 396, so that'd be an L78. Not sure if Conroy changed engines - swapping an L34 for an L78 - but I imagine they'd do pretty much whatever the customer was willing to pay for.

Still - a great looking car!

I know of a guy that said he bought a Firebird Cheetah in Winnipeg. I'll try to get a pic or cowl tag info from him.. Cheetah were Beumonts and Firebirds only?
