How's this for a small world? In talking to Jack we discovered my Laurentian was painted at the same body shop as his Beaumont (Welland Auto Body) at the same time! He remembers watching the progress on my car.

Yes., Todd that would be correct-Moe Roy and Larry Young-they had Welland Auto Body on Lasalle Street off Crowland Ave. The best guys in the business at the time-they did all the high end stuff-it has been said that at the time in 1978 the the invoice on your 69 pontiac was $5000 ! can you imagine ? a new Z28 could be had for around that !

Moe and Larry presently work for Perfomance cars in St. Catharines-Moe lives on Welland Road in Fenwick (one road over from Canboro/Effingham where your car was sold new at Central in 1969) and Larry is practically my neighbour one road over here in Cooks Mills.

Ken, if you are ever talking to Larry (or Moe) you'll have to tell him that at least 2 of his projects have survived.

I do talk to them fairly often-they are aware of Jack's car-and both spoke with me when I had your 69---actually quite a few of their paint jobs from that era are still out there.

Congratulations on saving your beaumont and what a great but sad story. Did you ever try and show the restored car to the original owner if he is still alive ?

...Jack, want another coincidence? I was born and raised In Newmarket ON. One of the car dealers there was Slessor Motors. My dad was a friend of the owner (can't remember his first name now..think it was Don) and bought a number of cars from him. I went to school with Teddy Slessor. So Bob Slessor in Grimsby must be a relative of the Newmarket Slessors. Six degrees of separation they say....

By the way, great car. Ours is a Western rust-free survivor but it had a lot more miles put on it than your beauty did..! Beautiful car a very nice rest. job..Congrats!!

Jack, after all these years it must be tough to let go of that treasure. I will say this though, Thank You for being such a consciences purveyor of such a rare and uniquely Canadian car. Your instincts, and frankly, luck, have done the Canadian Pontiac community a great service. I wish that treasure was in my garage, though I doubt that unique car could have had a better caretaker than you could during that era of harmless modifications. That car is a museum piece, although it deserves to be driven, exercised and enjoyed responsibly. Lets hope the new owner gives a damn and is serious about preserving such a worthy car. Lets hope the new owner appreciates what an irreplaceable specimen he or she has. 1-of-a-kind for sure!
