Queensway Canadian Tire Cruise - July 3, 2010

65Camino wanted to celebrate getting his project Zephyr to turn over so we decided to head out to the Grand-daddy of all GTA cruises the Etobicoke Canadian Tire on the Quesensway.

We started down the DVP towards the Gardiner expressway but we were held up for about three minutes on the ramp to the Gardiner by a Toronto Police Motorman. The next thing we knew he was giving us an escort along the Gardiner and then the QEW.

We were two rows back of the motormen, you can see the red and blue lights up on the left, anyway it was the Queen's motorcade, kinda neat to follow.

We got to the cruise and it did not disappoint, I figure 275 cars tonight. A few show stoppers there tonight, a 62 Bubble top Belair, 4 speed 409 with heater delete! PLUS a wild Willys gaser, I'll throw in a 1973 4 speed Grand Am, 1 of 167 according to owner. Here are a few images from the evening......

I goofed this one up but show it for context on what follows.

IMG_6315.JPG
Too much knowledge - VIN showed "M" not "X" which means this is a very
nice tribute car. By the way it sounded I'd say the original 350 is in there
.

IMG_6317.JPG
It is a 4 speed.

They were Hurst, The dust cap was different from what I am used to seeing but they were branded with the famous Hurst logo.

Great cars here. Loved the 62 409 Bel Air, the 55 Chevy Wagon, the 58 Pathfinder and 58 Impala convt,  and the red 73 Grand Am. Thx for taking some other GMs as well.

Love the '73 Grand Am stick car, I'd love a '74 stick Grand Am to park next to the '75's.

Great pictures Ray, thanks for them. What's with all these Caddy tailights, are they on sale some place? I thought they were only allowed in Florida.

Oooh! Oooh! More!

tail2.jpg

Only thing better would be a 58 Impala, eh? Like the American Graffiti car.

But they do fit right in with the 58 Pontiac, too smile.gif

And I have 3 sets hoarded, in case one breaks on my car biggrin

...

Thanks for all the great pictures, Ray. Summer in Canada sure brings out the beauties, eh? All we do down here now is huddle around the air conditioner ...

The 409 heater-delete was of course also a radio-delete - what a great car, I still can remember how those early 60's 409's sounded, ahh, music to the ears!

Dave
