signal light harness trouble


i bought a tilt collumn for my 66 pontiac and the harness inside is compleatly different from the factoy harness if any one can help me with diagrams or any advice the other collumn came out of a 66 caprice( i think) i need help please

Are you talking about one of the connectors being U shaped and the other one being a triangle?

At least if I recall right, the signal switch on the tilt is down low on the column, non tilt is right under the steering wheel at the top.

  First of all, are the wire colors or the physical connectors different? If it just the connector, re-pin the wires into your old connector to match the colors from the tilt column.

 Plus, make sure there is no 4-way flasher knob on the new tilt column. (Just an added thought since you are unsure of the year) If there is one, it is out of a '67-'68 car.

the harness in the tilt has no wires and it looks like somthing out of a 1930's something thats why i am having trouble if ai can i will post a picture of it

Ok that sounds correct. You should have a cable running out of the upper part of the column down to a switch that has a triangular shaped connector plugging into it.

thanks for all of your help i think the column came out of a cadi and i dont think there is much i can do so i am looking for another column even the shaft in side is a larger diamiter so i can not put the origional harness in oh well ,any one looking for a tilt cadi column? lolbiggrin
