I finally got the info from Vintage services. The vin number on mine is 9711949947. Engine is W182839 261 cid 150 HP 1bbl Strato Six 6 cylinder. The car was built June 15 1959 in Oshawa Ont, there were 13,355 sold in canada.
The letter I got from VS said the car was built on Chevrolet chassis and the parts for mechanical specs match US Chev model 1119. So with that said, I need help, I need parts. The pic on my profile is the car, she is mint inside and outside, but needs a few things for inspection and tuneup. Can anyone hook me up with the following: two lower ball joints one left inner tyrod end three universal joints carrier bearing rear shoes For tuneup: plugs, points, condensor, distributor cap and rotor button, and generator belt.
It appears the car was made with Canadian body and US chassis with all fixins. Any help appreciated. Post here or email me please, or guide me in the right direction to get her on the road. I have more info on the car if needed, i figure with the info i've listes should be enough, yes/no/maybee. Thanks, nice today to see the quick response. Des

Welcome to Newfoundland Newbie! Go to your local parts store and tell them its a 59 Cheverolet and they will be able to get ALL that stuff 1959 Chevrolet don't forget...
Des your car is all Canadian, you should be able to get parts mechanical parts from NAPA Car Quest, Canadian Tire[if they have that in Newfie] or any 60's Chevy supplier on line!! Think your chassis went from 58 to 64 then they switched in 65!!! Don't know where you thought it was on a American frame as none of the US Poncho's came with a 6 cyl. Every thing underneath is Chevy, body panels are Cdn. Pontiac

What do you mean, if they have that in Newfie??? Now, now!!! We had this discussion before... But yes, I am sure there are lots of Cdn Tires in Newfoundland!
Des, didn't you recheck you previous post of 15 hours ago? You can subscribe to a post so you can get a notice in your e-mail... Here is your old post....... Yes, Chevrolet all the way for chassis parts!!!
OK LOl, which ot the three, the engine is 261 6cyl, with generator. According to my mechanic it has to be generator belt. The ones listed are foe V8, does it matter.
Also what would cause fuel gage to stay full always, its a replacement tank, checked all wires and ground good.
Does anyone know where to get original mororola radio repaired or find replacement for close to that year.
I am not knocking Ecklers but you should of bought your parts at Carquest. You do not have to pay shipping or brokage fees or the exchange on the money. Carquest would have had the parts in a couple of days. Just about everybody gets the "trade " price from Carquest. Ecklers price is what is listed in their catalogue and on suspension, bearings, engine parts our local parts stores beat them by 20% to 30 % every time. I am just trying to show you how to save some money. Do not be afarid to ask for a discount at Carquest or any parts store, explain to the salesman what you are doing and most of the time you will get a discount. Ecklers is a good place for emblems , mouldings ,interior parts etc. for things that are reproduced and you can't find good used or nos.Carquest you could have even specified what brand of part you wanted TRW, Moog or even the Carquest brand. Ecklers sells a lot of ofshore made parts and check your parts when you get them and see where they were made. The boxes might say made in the USA but check close and see if the part is US Canadian or foreign made. Good luck with your project and do not be afarid to ask the members on this site for any advice or help you need.
I worked at Canadian Tire and now work at NAPA, When I did the front end and Brakes on my 60 Canadian Pontiac, between the two stores I was able to get all the parts, including the brake lines and Master Cyl.
