Just looking for some advice on this car.. i came across this car the other day while i was driving down a country back road.. it wasn't for sale or anything, but the garage door was open and i noticed it, so i decided to drop in and have a look. The lady i talked too said she had it sense new..and it's been sitting in here garage since 87.. now this car hasnt been started up since then.. it has original paint..the body looks good but the back floor is rotted out right behind the drivers seat..so i don't know if this is a big problem or not. The car has a little over 16000 miles on it, i looked under the back to check out the frame.. that looked good. I'm thinking on going back tomorrow and check it out good.. and start it up. So is there anything i should be on the look for.
It has a 400, i checked along the door bottoms and they looked good, and the doors open and closes easily..like not sagging down. I'm going too give her a closer look tomorrow, and try to fire her up, I'm going too take out the back seat and see how it looks under there.
My friend's Dad had a '74 2 door Newport. Huge doors! We were both around 14, and skinny as rails, but we used to push that car down his Dad's gravel driveway and out onto the road around 9:00 at night so we wouldn't alert him. What a heavy beast! Then the fun would begin. Vrrrrooom!

Take the oil pump off (it bolts on the side of the motor behind the oil filter) take it apart, and free up the pressure relief spring, reassemble, then start it. If you try to start a Chrysler big-block without doing this, you'll likely have NO oil pressure on start-up.
