Very nice!!

I'm a little confused about the L-78 designation.  Does that mean that this car originally had a Chevy big block, being a Canadian car?

L78 was a Pontiac engine RPO too and used into the late 70's...not to be confused w/ the solid lifetr 396/375 Hp L78 Chevys..

Thank you!  I didn't realize that Pontiac and Chevy used the same designations for different engines.

That clears it up! aww

Keith Tedford used to own that car. It originally was silver but during the resto he went with Cardinal Red & put on the notched rear pan with the quad tips like a 70/71.

My neighbor back in 1988/89 bought from the original owner a 1972 Lemans GT, stripped with manual steering, manual drums, plus the big valve L78 400 4 barrel, plus a Super T10 & a 3.55 Safe-T-Track and the factory side splitter pipes. Bought new from Plaza Pontiac (I think) in November '71 it was very quickly put into storage for the winter. And every winter since. He had the car repainted (I don't know if I would have done that) but he had the stripes duplicated in paint. He had a complete set of factory stripes bought whenn the car was new, plus the original owner had vinyl upholstery put over the original cloth & vinyl bench seats when new.

Here's a very unflattering picture of it after the next owner drove it down to T.O. from Orillia during a rain storm.

The neat thing about Lemans from this era is you could pretty much order whatever drivetrain you wanted. You could even order the GTO front clip in the majority of caes.
