At the same ceremony, the prince presented medals to long-serving RCMP members, including Insp. Raymond Munro who has been with the force for 40 years, mainly in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
"It's quite an honour. Fortunately I was with his older brother in '77 when he was touring the province of Alberta. Now that's two out of three," said Munro with a laugh, joking about meeting two of the Queen's three sons.
Edward honoured the medal recipients' families for their service, too. "Thanks and congratulations to all the families as well, because you live and work through this life as well as those on duty," he said.
